Schenn with Giroux is awful. Schenn is the only person on the team who doesn't play better when paired with Giroux - Shephardbd
So, let me get this straight, Schenn plays his best game of the season against Boston, and yet you make the above statement? Please explain in more detail.

I disagree with Tim Thomas.. if it were me I would have handled it like ______.

Tim Thomas is an bumhole. He had no right to do this that or the other thing. He is a clown and a douchebag who is selfish. He was wrong to do that to his team. |

It is political simply because the President is involved. The want to show the country what a normal guy he is. Hey I am just like you, I like sports. I'm here to honor the sports champion of your league, at the White House, because I'm the President.
If it were the President of Best Buy, it isn't political.
With the President of The United States, EVERY event he attends or hosts is political. If you don't think his handlers are scripting everything he says and does because a potential voter might be turned off or on because of something he says or does not say, you are crazy.
You can bet they are looking at ways to spin this event against Republicans because of what TT did, as would a Republican administration do the same if it were reversed.
I may sound calloused or jaded, Im not. It just is what it is. And has been as long as politics has been around.
Its the same when a President throws out a pitch , or awards a medal, tells you his favorite or least favorite foods, etc etc etc. Its all scripted for maximum political benefit and minimum political damage. - MBFlyerfan
There's a difference between celebrating a team's achievement at the White House and a political rally. Frankly, because of tradition, it's part of the job of president to honor a championship winning team. It seems as though TT couldn't see the difference. That is of course his right to not go, but it is my right to say he handled it badly. |

I couldn't be more happy for Scott Hartnell. Obviously because he's a Flyer but mostly because it's well deserved. There is a lot of talking down of the All-Star game by fans because it isn't competitive Hockey and there is no meaning behind it but it doesn't mean he doesn't mean something to any of the playoffs in the league. Sure Stars who've been there 5 plus times could careless but for those first timers, I have no doubt in my mind, to them it means they've finally arrived. The All-Star Game establishes status of who the stars of the league are. Scott Hartnell is finally a Star. I'll also be happy to see Lupul there, even if he isn't wearing a Flyers uniform. |

Never said he was an bumhole or a clown. He did come off as selfish and I thought he could've handled it better. And I'm pretty sure disagreeing with someone and saying they're wrong is pretty close. |

No.. my point is that he chose not to endorse someone who is the opposite of his beliefs. And if you wanna move to France.. so be it. Better then turning the USA into France. - jak521
Not according to TT. He said his decision was not based on any party in particular. It was a protest of the state of the government in general. According to TT, this is not a Rebulican/Democrat issue. He's not protesting Obama or the democrats. That's all I was saying when I posted his quote. I just didn't get his reasoning. I could understand his not going more if he had said, "I hate Obama and all he stands for and therefore I will not go".
Furthermore, how would going to a Synagogue be a denouncement of someone's Christian beliefs? |

Nobody said it was a political rally. It wasnt. It was, however, political in nature, primarily because the president is involved. Doesnt matter who the president is, or what party he is affiliated with..
I agree you have that right, so as he had the right to handle as he saw fit. Would I have handled it differently, absolutely. But the fact that we all could handle it in anyway we want, is what makes this country the finest on the planet (sorry canada). |

Finally, a post that isn't a veiled (or not so veiled) political comment. I agree, it's great to see Hartsy get the call he deserved to begin with. It's cool to see Lupul there, as well. I'll be glad to have them on my television, even if I won't be paying attention. |

And I agree wholeheartedly that he handled it badly. He should have gone as a representative of the Bruins.
But it is all politics. Presidents started this tradition because it is good politics.

On another note... that woman that just died in the snowboarding accident... she was Canadian...
How come their family has 550,000$ in medical bills? I thought canada had a great health insurance deal? - archion113
We do. She was willfully participating in a sport that has incredible risks though. Most likely her personal (extended) health plan did not cover her for this activity. The basic (provincial) health plan most likely covered the trip to the hospital (including air ambulance) and emergency treatment. She may have had private room and private specialists involved too. |

So let's say the president hangs out with his friends to play a game of bball. It involves the president, so does that make it political?
This event was not to push any political agenda. It was to celebrate the Bruins. I don't know why that is so hard to understand. |

It was a protest of the state of the government, because they are doing things against his belief. Right or wrong? Im not gonna say what he did was right or wrong, because it is up to that individual to decide.
Its not a denouncement. Im just using it as a loose example of someone having adamant beliefs in one facet compared to another. |

Kids love the All-Star Game. I love the All-Star Game. I remember the first I ever watched. It was in Tampa I believe. Eric Lindros' name was called out and everyone booed him. I was heart broken and couldn't understand why. |

I wouldn't have gone. No reason politics and hockey are being mixed together. Its so frigging corny.

Is that event open to media and then plastered on every single news feed country wide (hell even internationally)?
If so, then yes, absolutely it makes it political.
Let me ask you a question. Clinton got a blow job. How do you think that affected him politically. Also, when was the last time a blow job was political?
EDIT:I know it was to celebrate the Cup, but it is indirectly a political event. Its the nature of beast. |
