I don't think to say it's political in nature is quite as accurate as to say it has political implications. - BulliesPhan87
I should have worded it the way you just did. Thank you for suggesting that (seriously).
As long as the mass public has access to it, it has political significance... |

Kids love the All-Star Game. I love the All-Star Game. I remember the first I ever watched. It was in Tampa I believe. Eric Lindros' name was called out and everyone booed him. I was heart broken and couldn't understand why. - Schenn2shine
I understand what it is, I have no problem with what it is, I just don't have any interest. I just think it's nice to see Scotty heading there, he deserves it, it seems he wanted it, and frankly it couldn't happen to a (seemingly) nicer guy. Hartsy's my favorite, so maybe I'm biased. |

Is that event open to media and then plastered on every single news feed country wide (hell even internationally)?
If so, then yes, absolutely it makes it political.
Let me ask you a question. Clinton got a blow job. How do you think that affected him politically. Also, when was the last time a blow job was political? - jak521
I think the bj was stupid, but I don't think it affected his policy or views at all.
If this was on a campaign trail, I could see an event like this being political. But it was at the freaking white house. It's part of American history. If it was on a campaign stop, it would be very different. |

Giroux gets to play in the All-Star Game in front of his family and friends, his home town. Also the very building where he played his first ever game. You can't write this stuff. You can't tell me Giroux didn't want to be there. |

It was a protest of the state of the government, because they are doing things against his belief. Right or wrong? Im not gonna say what he did was right or wrong, because it is up to that individual to decide.
Its not a denouncement. Im just using it as a loose example of someone having adamant beliefs in one facet compared to another. - jak521
And I'm trying to make you see that you can have adamant beliefs about Christianity or the state of the government and still go to a Synagogue or an awards ceremony without comprimising your beliefs. |

He was at the end of his 2nd term, other wise it certainly would have been a campaign. Thats kinda my gist here. |

You think it doesn't. Thats not his beliefs.
How unamerican of you to try and tell someone else how to handle their beliefs

Good idea. We wouldn't be having this discussion if it weren't for Tim Thomas' actions, which is one reason why I think he should've handled it differently.
And that's my last post on the topic. |

We do. She was willfully participating in a sport that has incredible risks though. Most likely her personal (extended) health plan did not cover her for this activity. The basic (provincial) health plan most likely covered the trip to the hospital (including air ambulance) and emergency treatment. She may have had private room and private specialists involved too. - rockychocbill
I'm assuming because the accident happened in the US and perhaps there are limitation to coverage outside of Canada?

unless of course people see you as endorsing those beliefs. Thats my point. Would Tim Thomas want to be in a commercial endorsing President Obama? Even though an event like the one yesterday, and a commercial are on two totally different spectrums, they both are used politically to sway voters. Im not being biased here. It would be that way no matter who was in office. |

Well, the mass public and two political parties that in this day and age are engaged in a day by day, hour by hour, second by second media war. The only political suggestion I wish to make is that politics have become far more vitriolic and ungentlemanly in the past fifty years or so, and the booming increases in media technology are a huge factor. So to speak, there is no blow too low, no headline nor suggestion off limits. |
