I'm surprised to read some people not throwing Bryz under the bus this morning. I was just thinking, as bad as Bryz was against Boston, should he had played against Boston to begin with? We might have been seriously pushing our luck by having him play 2 days in a row. Bryz was outstanding against the Wild and then again against the Devils. Bryz does have to be better but let's not discount how good a team Boston is and the fact the D has to do their part. Again, Bryz was bad against Boston but Boston is a good team and the Flyers should real character by sticking with things but maybe Bob should have started one of those weekend games. I think a number of us had a sneaking suspicion that maybe Bob should have started. I know I did. - Schenn2shine
i don't think "bad" is fair. i thought he was uneven. some great stops, and some i thought he should have had.
i have zero problem with bryz going against boston. that's how it should be.

How does this make him cold? Going 9 games without a point is cold. - Schenn2shine
When you are expected to be the Hart trophy winner... 7 points (all assists) in 9 games is cold. Especially when your season pace was nearly double that. |

I agree with this post. It's well said. Uneven is the perfect way to explain his play against Boston. |

Agreed. I don't think Bryz lost them the game. I think Bryz could have won them the game if he comes up with 1 more clutch save in regulation, but I think Sunday was just an emotional game where the flyers were missing 3 top forwards and almost won. |

This is Claude Giroux's first shot at any type of hardware in the NHL and most of the points he's ever point up are assists. It doesn't matter what his season's pace was, he's still having a career season and as a young player, it's okay to slump but he isn't cold. He's doing what he does. |

Exactly. He wasnt bad but he didnt win them the game.
He had no shot on 4 of the goals in my opinion. |

I only see it on the HB home page. That's why I didn't post it yet. I need confirmation. Anyway, it would be well deserved. |

All depends on your perspective. Relative to his success early in the season he was cold, relative to the rest of the NHL I'd say he was pretty good still. I don't even think it's that important because he will continue to play hard and will have ups and downs this season. |

If Hartnell is finally chosen, considering how the last couple of years have gone, it's a great comeback redemption story.
I do hope Bryz is in net tonight...you can see him finally coming into his own. Pluck the shootout crap.
Schenn is playing well and i hope he keeps it up. I'm liking the trades more and more as the year goes on.
ASF posted an article in the Delco Times about Hartnell. http://www.delcotimes.com/sports/ - phi1671
ASF must read this board
From the article on Hartnell mentioned above:
"He took too many dumb penalties in 2008-09. He was an outright pariah in 2009-10 until his playoff resurrection. And after that postseason didn’t exactly translate to a great 2010-11, the fans were on his case again. They tracked the number of times he fell to the ice. They screamed in the direction of general manager Paul Holmgren, wondering how he could give a guy like Hartnell a no-movement clause in his contract."
I've always been a Harts fan. Glad his season is going the way it is and I hope this is a breakout season for him in that he reaches consistency with his game rather than sliding back into "streaky" play.

Giroux is second in the league in scoring with 55 points. Only Malkin is ahead of him with 58. Datsyuk is behind Giroux with 53 points. I wouldn't say Giroux is cold, I would say he was cold. On all 5 of Hartnell's goals this weekend, Giroux assisted on all 5. That's what Giroux does, he sets up goals. - Schenn2shine
Hot and Cold is relative... Most NHL'ers would love to have or settle for Giroux "cold". With all his skill and playing on the top line with talent around him... and, with someone with this many total pts... He has struggled to score goals as of late. It is 1/23 and his last goal was 1/2. Earlier in the season he was chipping in a few goals as well as helpers. |
