Going to sell more jerseys than Tebow. - niteislander
I saw Teebow walking by a church after their loss to the Patriots. He kicked a stained glass window in. |

We need to see the next frame to see if he's clutching his knee...then we'd know for sure. |

Thomas was unreal and still is one of the best in the league. It's that reason alone that the B's won't let him go. This team is very much on course to make a run for a second consectuve Cup, so I seriously doubt they'd do something like trade their playoff MVP from last year. - keaner17
I would agree with u if Rask wasn't just as good. ... more than likely they keep TT for another run and trade him after season and then sign Rask Long term. I just think if TT plays great in playoffs again it will be VERY tough for them to trade him in off season. This dumb "scandal" that isn't a scandal gives them their out. It really is not even a story.. when James Harrison skipped his visit to the white house when steelers won did anyone know about it or care? The whole premise of this country is freedom.. if you don't want to meet the president who the freak cares?

and it wasn't like it was a partisan shot. In his statement he said the Repubs are just just as bad as the Dems. At the risk of steering this to a political conversation (please let's not go there!), it's just like the way the media demonized the Tea Party. They weren't born out of some hard right wing group as they'd have you to believe, it was supposed to be about just people sick of the government period, but the easiest way to minimize the impact of an uprising is to marginalize them. That then would scare the moderates away from the movement and turn perception into reality. So like those people, when Thomas spoke his mind, he'll now be chastized by the media as some nut when in fact he basically took the stance we should all be taking. |

Didn't see the game. Stuck late at work. What the he*l happened? It sounds like a sh*tshow from what I read this morning. Freaky goals, missed penalties, JT getting mad? - Jethro09
Just 4 uncalled head shots via glove or stick that went uncalled. Two of them left McDonald and Pandolfo bloody and moulson getting hauled down leading to the game winning 2 on 1 |

we lose games because our defense is of AHL quality...the goaltending has not been an issue with montoya and nabby..come on! - NYI78
Disagree. Montoya ad nabby get outplayed most nights. Nabby only recently has played like a true #1 |

I think it's a combo of both. We don't have a physical enough defense which causes us to lose battles in the corners while being overwhelmed in front of the net. It's why guys like Nathan Horton, Evander Kane and other big forwards have their best games against us. That said, it seems that Montoya is good for one bad goal again, so for a team that's expecting over 50% of it's offensive production from one line, that's a tough nightly hole to dig out of. Nabby has been pretty damned good lately but I'll concur that he was rather average through his first 9-10 starts this year.
Last night was not a strong performance from Al. 4 goals on 21 shots, he's got to be better. Still, the defense has to make it more intimidating to come accross the middle. |

They don't score..........They are 27th in the league in goals for. How many times have we been shutout. Not saying we have all-star caliber goaltenders (Nabby was in his prime), but your not going to win when you don't put the puck in the net. |

Dear Garth Snow,
after watching every game this season on NHL center ice, I've decided to do you a favor and offer my services to this team as it's clear that there is plenty of room for improvement past the first line. I will sign a contract at the league minimum and even bring my own equipment (although it is goalie gear)
I have no professional ice hockey experience and have been playing for fun in recreational leagues on and off since I was 16, but mostly ball or roller hockey. That being said, I'll be a good quote and I have my own jersey.
I would prefer to play goalie but its clear that you're in desperate need of help everywhere, so I'll play wherever the muppet you have coaching says I can play. I figure at least the third line, since Brian Rolston has been playing 2nd and 3rd line wing all year, and I won't even ask for power play time, and I'll hustle and backcheck like a fiend although I can't skate backwards well, so don't play me on defense HA!
I'm sure if you can afford to pay Brian Rolston 5 million dollars a season I'll be a much better deal, because I'll stand in front of the net and watch my linemates work the corners, and I'm sure I could hit an empty net as well if you want to play me late in a game.
I'd prefer not to play friday or saturday night as those are date nights, but a lot of your players don't show up to games so I think this is a reasonable offer.
Please respond whenever is convenient, if I don't pick up the phone immediately it's likely because I'm trying to improve my kill:death ratio on battlefield 3, but I will call you back as soon as the round is over
yours truly,
Isles since 6 - Isles_since_6

can I just say I follow the Islanders closely despite being a Rangers fan and I wanna bring up something since you guys are discussing lack of toughness and Tavares getting hit too much.
in the 2009 draft when the Islanders took Tavares, they traded up in the first round and I thought that Snow was going to do something brilliant when he traded up to the 12th pick, and that was to grab Zack Kassian. In the Junior prospects game that previous January, Kassian injured Tavares on a nasty hit and gave him a pretty serious shoulder injury.
Kassian has hands and toughness, not like these hacks like Haley and Gillies and I think he would have been the perfect bodyguard for Tavares and I thought it then.
But, instead, they traded up to grab a defenseman in De Haan who probably would have still been there where they were scheduled to pick anyway.
I just don't understand why they didn't grab Kassian, and as I watch Tavares develop into one of the best forwards in the league already at only 21 years old, I still don't get it. - jimbro83
No one was more disappointed than me when the Isles passed on Kassian. I nearly kicked in the TV when DeHaans name was called. But you answered your own question. Hands and toughness. Mr Wang wants no part of that combination.
Isles will not address the toughness issue until its to late. Only a complete inept organization allows their franchise player to take the beatings, hits and cheap shots that JT takes with no retaliatory response. And their excuse? Hurt the other team on the score board & in the standings!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hows that going?
BTW: I'm extremely impressed with the Rangers this season. But when you watch the Rangers and see skill blended with team toughness along with individual toughness. It's not surprising that the Rangers are doing well this season. Someone must have looked back at the Stanley Cup champs over the past few years and realize that you dont win the Cup with out a combo a talent and toughness. Here that Snow? Toughness! Not one 23 yr old kid! |

It helps to finally draft better and have a coach that knows what he is doing. The Rangers, to a man, will skate through a brick wall for Tortorella. The team believes in whatever he has sold and that can go a long way.
Also, great goaltending and solid team defense covers up the warts on offense, that the Rangers do still have.
The Rangers are built from the goaltender out, which is how a team should be constructed.
I was just passing by and saw that you complimented the Rangers, so I had to at least acknowledge that.

I skate every once in a while at Bryant Park. Never Played ice hockey. I played Roller and floor hockey for a bunch of years. I even scored a few times on the garbage can goalie; what this tells me is i only have one direction to go....up!!! the possibilities are endless.
I think 5 years/$25 Million is a good starting point....what do you think garth? |
