uhh what? The Leafs havent made the playoffs in 7 years and its still almost impossible to get tickets - Leafzrulez123 there is a difference. we've sucked on epic levels. You guys at least have been competitive for most of those years aside from 2010, and have least made an effort to put a competitive team out there. We are made up of washed up vets, AHL signings and prospects that might be made out to be better then what they are (aside from tavares). Plus we have a commie ego maniac buffoon of an owner who knows jack poop about hockey.

While I feel your pain... trust me when I say this, there has been MANY nights this year when Leafs fans were wondering WTF was going on with the refs. - GoneFullRetard
Oh, it did go both ways....although there were far more infractions by the Leafs, especially in the last ten minutes of the game.....the problem was that the final "failure to officiate" directly resulted in the GWG. That is a problem, IMO. The referees, by apparently "not wanting to decide the game", did in fact do just that.
That said, I'm tired of seeing Tavares cross checked to the ice. We need to bring up Gillies and Haley for the next game against them. |

can I just say I follow the Islanders closely despite being a Rangers fan and I wanna bring up something since you guys are discussing lack of toughness and Tavares getting hit too much.
in the 2009 draft when the Islanders took Tavares, they traded up in the first round and I thought that Snow was going to do something brilliant when he traded up to the 12th pick, and that was to grab Zack Kassian. In the Junior prospects game that previous January, Kassian injured Tavares on a nasty hit and gave him a pretty serious shoulder injury.
Kassian has hands and toughness, not like these hacks like Haley and Gillies and I think he would have been the perfect bodyguard for Tavares and I thought it then.
But, instead, they traded up to grab a defenseman in De Haan who probably would have still been there where they were scheduled to pick anyway.
I just don't understand why they didn't grab Kassian, and as I watch Tavares develop into one of the best forwards in the league already at only 21 years old, I still don't get it.

if last night wasn't a reason why Michael Haley should be called up then I don't know what is. I know Streit has been bad..but my lord he needs someone to play with him who is not an AHL caliber defensman...everytime he pinches (good and bad) who ever is on his other side is unable to cover for him...i'm not defendings play its just comical and delusional that this team thinks it can make the playoffs with this defense |

Weight and Cappy yelled and screamed on the ice...the only good that is going to do off the ice is get you fined...ask torts - NYI78
Whatever, then get fined. Capuano is a pushover who should'nt be coaching a pee wee team. The guy has to show something rather than always saying, "I thought the guys played a good game we just didn't get the result we wanted"... That hasn't and never has worked in the past. Funny you bring up Torts bcs he is exactly what this team needs. |

4-3 Leafs - t_leafs21
Good call!!
Horrible horrible officiating on both sides of the ice last night...felt like I was watching a game of shinny and the refs were just there to drop the pucks. Missed calls went on both sides, but I'll agree that the Leafs seemed to get away with a little more than the Islanders - the last rush of the game stings the most I imagine |

Didn't see the game. Stuck late at work. What the he*l happened? It sounds like a sh*tshow from what I read this morning. Freaky goals, missed penalties, JT getting mad? |

I can't take this god damn team. Every time I get pulled back in they crap the bed. 2 goal lead, late in the 2nd period...no excuse, you have to win that game. In regulation. Toronto's 3rd goal was a fluke, but then again, ours was, too.
This one line team crap has to stop. I don't care how many of you yell for continuity, Capuano needs to be fired. I could coach this (frank)ing team to be where it is now. There are a lot of guys that keep getting played despite their best efforts to be kept off the ice, and our buffoon of a coach (and GM, I guess) are happy to play guys because of their salary. - potvin05
Who are you replacing him with? Does that person even want the Isles job? You need to have someone in mind if you're going to can Cappy. They should never have hired him in the first place, they should have gone with an established, veteran NHL coach like Therrien, Murray or even MacTavish. |

I found it interesting that Mike Hasenfratz, last nights official, happened to be the same Mike Hasenfratz that called the phantom delay of game penalty on Hamonic in October

One positive about this game is we didn't have to witness it in HD - mighty13duck
I don't care how much money the Dolan's are paying this team. They need to move to another network. When you are last on the priority list of all the teams in the world on your own network .. you need to leave the network. I am sure the Yes network or sports NY would love to have another team. |

2nd games of home and homes are usually always chippy, especially 2 teams trying to gain ground into 8th... What absolutely baffles me is that during that home and home, 1 team receives 0 powerplays and the only penalty Toronto gets in 2 games is from there finess, goal scorer?!
The Isles lost plain and simple but that game was blatent that the refs were looking ahead to their vacation time this week and put the whistles away. Disgraceful... |

Thought they were taking Kassian with that pick too. It's not like this stuff is new. The Isles have had the same major problem since Garth started building his own teams...lack of size and toughness throughout the lineup. But he loves the smaller skill players and the small mobile defensemen, so we end up with redundant perimeter forwards and a D that can't just plant someone into the boards and take the puck away. Things would change for the better if there were at least a couple of intimidating players up front and on D. |

A. haley is not in the same sentence as Gillies. One is a goon.. the other can actually play.
B. DeHaan would not have last 5 more picks as the Rangers, Boston and other teams LOVED him and still do....
C. The reason this team lacks toughness is our owner wants to get rid of fighting in the NHL. (whole other conversation).
D. We have a lot of young power forwards on the team (Nino and OK) and in the system coming up soon (Brock Nelson, Petrov, Anders Lee, etc) |

When Garth first took over most teams in the NHL thought the new rules would mean you needed fast skilled guys. He has since been drafting mostly huge bodies... look at Bridgeport. Look at our prospects.. 90% are big kids.
Brock 6"3" 210, Lee 6'2" 220, Petrov 6'3" 200, Sundstrom, Ullstrom, Kabanov, Dibo, Mayfield, Donovan, Nino, Clark, Dehart, all over 6 feet all over 200 lbs. |

The Isles should move to SNY. Get off the Dolan network and be on a channel where they would be the primary winter programming. I just don't know if SNY is interested in signing them for the same or more $$ than MSG pays the Isles now. |
