Is Admirals still open? - weirdoh
Still open. Heh, on my campus.
And still deadly. Those burgers are fantastic.
Mind you, when drunk, I spend more time at Lonnie's. |

Lombardi wasn't going anywhere, unless you were willing to send along an asset to make him go away, which would pretty much make the original deal a waste of time. - Atomic Wedgie

Have to agree. Move out some key players that can get us returns for the future and let our kids play regular roles for the rest of the year. If we make the playoffs still, the kids get useful playoff experience, if not they get to play half a season to mature for next year. We can then use the prospects and draft picks we aquire to restock the Marlies. - stevecarpetman
Nobody is taking Lombardi a couple months back. Sorry.
Nashville had to give up on Franson just to get rid of him. |

I can remember getting a burger and it was as big around as my fitted cap. Good prices too. |

I guuuuuess that would be cool...but for the time being, I like chirping my Habs buddies cause of the devastation that is becoming the Habs - noename09
With all this "devastation" the Habs experienced this year they are just 8pts back of the Leafs - that can be made up pretty quickly |

Maybe Burke didn't want to give the trolls any more troll fodder. They'd have a hay day with Pimple face and stuff like that. |

Definitely a bang-for-your-buck joint there.
If you're hungry as hell, Admirals is the best spot in downtown Brantford. |

Ugh... not this.
You absolutely need guys like Biggs, and those types are impossible to find via trade, so you draft and develop them.
We have guys like Kessel, and to a lesser extent prospects like McKegg/Kadri. No need for Puempel.

$3.5 million per year X two years, bad concussion history, and his contract isn't covered by insurance if he is on the injury list.
Basically only Toronto and New York would be willing to take on a contract like that.
And I doubt the Rangers would have wanted him. |

At this point of the season, 8 points and multiple teams to "jump", the Habs chances are slim and none.
Believe me, I'm a Leaf fan, I've been through it every year since the lockout. |

Wasn't Hayes supposed to be that type of player? What did they get for him? |

To this day, I still get lost, especially downtown. |

Hayes is JVR-lite, IMO.
Big, some skill.... no mean streak, doesn't get dirty or hit much.
They traded him for the pick to take Brad Ross |

Considering what Toronto picked up for Lombardi, AND the condition on the draft pick that may go to either team, there wasn't a "lose" situation.
That trade could prove to be a bigger steal than the Phaneuf trade. |

Hayes was, and still is, just a big body. Even in Blackhawk blogs their talking about Hayes' inability to use his size effectively and play anything even closely resembling a defensive game. |

That's just it...I think he looked at our goalie landscape and decided if I can't get one can't miss prospect I'm going to assemble a ton of mid range ones and hope something sticks.
You do what you can with what you have...and we needed to put our picks towards restocking a bare skater group...so signing international and college FA's was one of the only options left.
I'm sure we explored trading for the likes of a Bernier or Schnieder but the cost would've been way too prohibitive for us at the time.
Pat Quinn might've had his short comings in terms of bringing kids along but he understood one thing very clearly...you don't win without top echelon goaltending. Period.
The question becomes what to do at the position though...do we wait for one of the kids to step up and take the reins (like they were praying for Reimer to do) so that we can make the move for a 1C...or do we chance that someone in the next calander season won't make the necessary step and go out and get one? - Canadian kid
I believe Burke will target Josh Harding should he reach FA July 1st. I've had the good fortune of attending a number of games recently in St.Paul and Harding played very well. I don't see him resigning with Minny to be a career #2... and I don't think Minny can afford much in the way of a cap hit for him.
