Do you guys think we are gonna have a strike/lockout on our hands after this season is over? - MTL1
Revenues are up but are being driven by a very few teams while more and more teams are in real trouble. If owners try to use concessions from players to address these problems instead of revenue sharing between franchises or contraction/relocation, we could be in trouble.

Lombardi? - bwield
Not sure. He is the enigma here. He could be the player that earned that contract a couple years ago, but has yet to fully get it back. I would only give him up if the return was totally amazing! He has a great deal of upside which is why they signed him to that contract. Could be somewhere between a Grabo and Lupul in production. He is fast like Grabo |

Hayes is JVR-lite, IMO.
Big, some skill.... no mean streak, doesn't get dirty or hit much.
They traded him for the pick to take Brad Ross - Brian Huddle
I thought he was part of the Versteeg deal ? who was sent to Chicago in that one... Stahlberg, Didomenico, ??? |

Versteeg got a 1st and 3rd.
The 1st got Percy and the Leivo with those picks.
The Biggs pick was the Leafs 2nd and the 1st from Boston. - Brian Huddle
Percy - same difference just two draft picks apart. |

Hayes was for a 2nd at the draft and then they took Ross |

Stalberg, Dido and Paradis for Versteeg and Sweatt.
Was done the night before UFA.
The Hayes-Ross deal was on the draft floor. |

Considering what Toronto picked up for Lombardi, AND the condition on the draft pick that may go to either team, there wasn't a "lose" situation.
That trade could prove to be a bigger steal than the Phaneuf trade. - Chislett
He came with a draft pick? I can't even remember. |

I prefer Biggs to Percy. Didn't like the Percy pick actually. I had targeted Biggs, Saad and Jenner pre-draft. |

At this point of the season, 8 points and multiple teams to "jump", the Habs chances are slim and none.
Believe me, I'm a Leaf fan, I've been through it every year since the lockout. - Chislett
Yes playoffs are out of reach for the Habs - but catching the Leafs is not out of the question with a couple more head to heads
I believe the Leafs play more Road games than Home games til the end of the season - will be tough |

Do you constantly make fun of Lombardi to hide the fact that you supported Dupuis? - Leafzrulez123
A LOT of people supported Dupuis around here..... |

Nobody is taking Lombardi a couple months back. Sorry.
Nashville had to give up on Franson just to get rid of him. - Brian Huddle
Oh come on now... you've forgotten the Leafs gave up the god like cup winner "Brett Lebda" in the deal... |

Gotta love how they got what they wanted and still found out ways to (frank) it up. One thing I hope they do (frank) off with, are those 8+ year contracts. |

I dont mind the Percy pick. Seems like an Aulie type to me, with good character that can be a leader. |

Not saying Lombardi Hud.
You know my concept here. Anyone except the younger guys this season is tradable. For this year only and after it's done you explain it to the team and tell them it was because you believed in the core and you were handcuffed without doing it.
That is the only way Burke fixes his goalie situation and number 1 centre pickle. Shedding salary for the off season. Parise will be there. Lou won't dump him and he wants to see what he'll get. |

I believe the have already settled on the escrow player percentage numbers - I believe Ron MacLean had mentioned it on HNIC |

I compare him to Paul Martin... a solid 4, who can play all situations. |

If I recall correctly, there was a conditional... 3rd round draft pick in that trade.
If Lombardi played 82 games over the next two seasons, Toronto surrenders their 2013 3rd to Nashville. If less, Nashville surrenders theirs to Toronto.
Something like that, but I'm almost certain their was a pick involved. |

I'm not sure he is available and if he's Toronto bound. He'll get a long term deal and be Minnesota bound, IMO.
Regardless, I agree that some guys can be dealt-- Mac comes to mind as Kadri is a replacement for the 2nd line wing atm.
Beyond that, not sure what's moveable that isn't young or core. |

Bettman destroyed the PA, got to pretty much write the CBA he wanted and still messed it up. His problem was that he continued to believe that all of his basket case franchises would be ok even though the Leafs, Habs and Rangers drive up revenues and the salary floor. I hear (from my sources that I listen to on the radio) that 17-21 franchises will lose money this year. |
