I dont really think that Burke really wanted Kadri

I think it was more a pick to keep him away from Bryan Murray of the Sens

If you watch the draft - they showed a conversation where Bryan Murray was telling Burke that he wanted Kadri at 7 - I think Burke was trying to work out a trade with Murray to flip picks and for the Leafs to get something else but Murray didn't bite and Burke ended up with Kadri

Honestly, I think an Aulie for MPS would make more sense. Maybe more added from Toronto but not much. Kadri might have more value in that he has done more at the NHL level, though not a significant amount more.

Why keep Kadri?
I never have, and still don't, understand what makes him seem so "untouchable".

I guess team philosophy, I'd like for this to be a team that develops their own talent and grows with them. Obviously he's not untouchable, but I'd personally like to see where he can go with this team. Patience with young guys is so important, thing is, usually only the good teams have that luxury because they have enough players making the team do well to allow their young players to develop and be in the right situations. Give him a few more years before passing judgement and grow as much talent from within. Long term thinking is what will make this team be good for an extended period of time.
