No, I'm suggesting that Burke could have gotten in on it but Holmgren moved quicker than normal.

You're REALLY undervaluing Kadri, Colborne, Gardiner, etc.

- Brian Huddle

How many of you really think that Getzlaf will be traded?

I don't know what the asking price is but I was thinking today in class, if the Leafs can trade for Ruutu would a third line of Armstrong/Connolly/Ruutu be any good? I figured it would add more grit to the line up and the line would still pot a few for us at the same time. Again I don't know what it would cost us but that could turn our forward lines to potentially:

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
Kule - Grabo - Kadri
Armstrong - Connolly - Ruutu
4th line

Thoughts?

- RoyMunson

If the asking price for a 1st line center is too high and nothing else comes up...Id be fine with just adding a guy like Ruutu to bring some grit into the lines.

(frank) off Brady you Richard... this better not be true... 5 bills for a nose bleed??
- Mr_Smokey

I think Brady was kidding around in response to how Illitch was going to pay for the massive PRince Fielder contract...the tweet is real however.

Also, the Winter Classic hasn't even been officially confirmed for next year, why would Ilitch already announce ticket prices?

That sucks. How could you find out anyway since my station isn't rated? There'd be no data on that listenership.

Its all based on Diarys. Im not sure if Radio has adopted a Personal People Meter system yet.

But its measured. Trust me.

His term is up this year isn't it? Or does he have one more year?

Pat Quinn might've had his short comings in terms of bringing kids along but he understood one thing very clearly...you don't win without top echelon goaltending. Period.
- Canadian kid

Unless you're stupidly deep like Chicago, but yes I agree. You need a > .920 type goalie to really go far.

Yeah, the club is no where near fine as it is.

Realized this to it's fullest yesterday in talks with Huddle...the current squad when compared to previous "almost successful" leafs teams is lacking:

No gritty, do whatever it takes, fight, cause havoc, 20+ goal scorer like Tucker
No lead by example, grind, fight, score 25+ goals player like Roberts
No #1 centre like Sudin
No #1 goalie that you can consistently rely on.

This team is the furthest thing from "fine as it is". And that's when comparing it to a squad that still was unable to win anything.

- Juice

Which has been my point. They can not win a cup with this team and need far too many pieces to do so.

Do we trade Mac? We trade anyone who will get more than their worth outside the main core of youth Kessel, Lupul, Phaneuf, Schenn, Kadri, Gardiner, Colborne, Franson, Frattin maybe Lombardi and Gunner.

I don't think anyone really does. We just like to chat about the possibility and pretend.

He's done at the end of this year.

There was a rumor that hes unhappy there. Probably won't be traded, but I wouldn't be surprised if he walks next year.

RT @bradyfan590: BREAKING: Mike Ilitch announces Maple Leafs/Red Wings tickets will range from $500 to $48,000/ticket
- jbold

That was a joke...to cover the costs of the Prince Fielder signings. Cmon people they haven't even announced it officially yet, lets get serious.

I'd rather have Carter for 9 years than Grabo for 5 (assuming that's what he will want)
- Mr_Smokey

Id rather just try and sign Grabo short term, or move him for picks/prospects/roster player rather than having Carter for 9 years.

Some big markets have gone to the PPM, but only a very select few, and only the really big ones...Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver I believe.

There are no books for out here. There's no ratings at all. The books don't come out here at all. We're the only station in Grand Falls. There 3 in Presque Isle, Maine which is only about 40minutes from here, but they're American Stations anyway. There are no ratings books for my market.

Lol i liked fletchers moves in the 90's.

his moves at Interm Gm were hit and miss but two horribles moves were the St louis trade for Stempniak for steen and Carlo C.

and Seriously WTF was he thinking signing an unproven Dman in Finger to that kinda money.. that blows my mind.. especially to that term.. the dude is bearly a top 4 on the marlies. insane.

Burke keeps him around for his talent assessment i guess.. definitely not for his ability to negotiate contracts.

Mark this down, I gotts ESPN so I know this, one of two things will happen...

Burke will make 2 to 4 deals of the mid range variety and tinker, maybe dropping one to two of our top 6 and no prospects.

OR

Burke Makes a large deal that no one was really expecting. With a player or players from a team the majority did not look at.

Getzlaf will not be a Leaf.
