Look at the vets we have at the forward position. Giroux, Talbot, Simmonds, Vorachek, JVR. Shelley as well but he is in and out of the lineup so I am not counting him really.
Is there one forward over 30?
The D guys average age gets pushed up by Pronger and Timmo. Then we have two rookies now playing on the back end.
The 1B goalie is what 22?
This team is very young. Can't look it up right now but has to be in the top three youngest team in the NHL.
Take out Pronger I would think maybe youngest.
If Bryz got hot and had a strong playoffs he would have my full support.
To be honest I didn't want the flyers to sign Bryz. I wanted them to go with Bob and get an older experienced guy to play backup.
That cap hit for Bryz would have been sweet trying to get a top D man in FA.
Is what it is so Go Bryz enjoy the break and come back rejuvenated.

Bob and his agent, Jerry Maguire, talking about a new contract:
Jerry: Bob, I say this with great respect, but those players you mentioned are marquee players.
Bob: Marquee?!?
Jerry: Here's what I'm saying. This is a renegotiation. We want more from them, so let's show them more from us. Let's show them your pure joy of the game, let's bury the attitude a little, let's show them --
It wasn't always artistic or entertaining, but the bottom line that the Flyers left the ice with two points. They faced three potential playoff opponents in the final three games before the All-Star break and emerged with five of six possible points despite the absences of three of their top nine forwards.
Gusty I see making some young Dman mistakes and then I see him make some solid rushes and plays and I can see the talent. Young Dmen, it's a learning process, I hope the Flyers give him some time and relax with him.
Sestito, you get the good with the bad. If he can stop leaving his feet and running around on hits I think he can be a solid 4th liner. I really love the size he adds. I am a Rinaldo and HarryZ fan but I take the bigger guy who can contribute equally.
I see some positives and negatives in both. - Buts16
he was pretty effective again last night, helping to create some forechecking on his line. i might keep him in over harry z for a while after we get some bodies back.
Bob did a great job, both in the game and in the shootout. It's mirrored his performance for most of the year. While it's encouraging, I wouldn't say that Bob is a shootout machine. Florida has been almost as bad at the gimmick as the Flyers.
The Flyers never should have let it get to a gimmick, but obviously happy they won and happy that Bob got it done. I believe that is his first win in the gimmick in his career. - Jsaquella
even stranger, he had i think 4 shootout wins in the preseason last year.
Sestito looks like an ape that escaped from the zoo sometimes out there. - Buts16
typically not a fan of these types, but love tommy for some reason. probably because he can actually play the game a bit. i realize it's the ahl, but he plays a big role for the phantoms on the top two lines. think he can be a solid contributor up here. sorry, zac.

Does anyone know the Flyers Record with and without Rinaldo in the line-up? I remember earlier in the season, they were terrible without him for some strange reason.

could figure it out, but it's nothing more than a coincidence, imo.

gusty was on the ice with 1:35 left to go in a 2-2 game - their last game before a break - that says a lot to me about what the coaches think of him. - hammarby31
Bourdon (20:13) played more than Timonen (18:53) and Gus (17:44) played a shade under what Timonen played. Hopefully Timonen is fine
Can't believe how well our rooks have carried the mail this year. Cooter, Read, Rinaldo , Z, MAB, Gus now, Schenn getting it together.. They've really supported those grey beards Roo, Simmonds, JVR, Voracek..etc..
The furture looks bright. - Hextall271
It's amazing really. Imagine in back in Sept. I had told you that by the all-star break Pronger would have missed most of the season and be lost for the year, Jagr would have missed a good chunk of games, Briere and Giroux would miss a handful of games, JVR would have injury issues all season and, most shocking of all, Bryz would have a GAA around 3.00 and a sub .900 save %?? You would think they would be struggling to make the playoffs. Instead they are gunning for first place. Great work by Lavy, the healthy vets and the rooks!! Looking forward to the rest of this year and the future!!
