Sestito is younger, cheaper, a better player, and fully capable of playing Shelley's role and adding to the physical/fighting element of it. When the Flyers get their injured players back I would actually prefer Sestito on the 4th line instead of Harry Z or Rinaldo. - PLindbergh31
depends on the team for me. we might want more speed in some cases. |

I think we all agree the Flyers need some help on defense in the absence of Pronger, I think the disagreement is who to target, and what to give up. - PLindbergh31
Order of my preferences:
1. Weber before trade deadline.
2. Suter before Deadline.
3. L.Schenn and Toronto's first used to take a Defenseman.
4. Carle extension before UFA
5. Suter as UFA.
In reality, for cap reasons, I would really like to get Schenn, and use our draft picks to get strong on defense. That way with no Pronger, and Timonen out after next season, we have cheap options to replace him.
If we get Weber or Suter before the deadline, then we have time to work out a contract that would help make thier cap hit managable, but if we have to wait to get Suter in UFA, then I think his cap hit would be too much for the Flyer to manage, and they might not be able to afford to resign Jagr and Voracek.. |

I can understand that. I wouldn't mind rotating Sestito and Harry Z based on opponent. |

This is why management waits until after the season is over to trade for a player's rights. |

Rinaldo/Sestito/HarryZ as the 12th/13th forwards with constant competition might actually be a good thing.
Big Jody is still hanging around for another season though. |

I think they were fully prepared to take a D at 8 last year until Couturier dropped in their lap. |

Watch the tapes of the Bruins playoff series last year. Carle was non competitive. - PLindbergh31
Let's do that. Saying Carle was non competitive simply isn't accurate. |

I like option # 5 the most. Do you understand what type of package it would require to land Weber? |

The Flyers keep Shelly around because he is a real locker-room guy. While the guys are playing the game, Jody makes sure everyone's lockers are cleaned, toliets are scrubbed, and benches are warm for when the team gets back for intermission.
How can Sestito replace that, when he is playing? |

If Carle was "non competitive" then the entire team was non competitive.

What makes you think you can get Suter cheaper in a trade then you would as a UFA? If you trade for him, he has all the leverage in the World, and your going to have to meet his price, or risk losing what you traded for him, for nothing. And he has nothing to lose if a deal isn't done because he'll get one in Free Agency. |
