That's common practice out of courtesy to the interviewee. It is also ok to fix language-related problems for people speaking in their second language if leaving it unedited could be construed as an attempt to make them look dumb or make fun of them. - bodiva88

I'm leary of this whole thing. There was no url on the screen "capture." And there is nothing about the way it was worded that suggests Ovechkin wrote it (not his native Russian grammar issues). And obviously his representative wouldn't have let him release something like that after rewriting it for him. Either a prank by the original website "reporting" it or a prank by someone at the league office that was never intended to go live (but I still think the missing url line on the capture makes the first more likely).

i was totally joking. i used to work for rodale. don't know if the writer is a staff guy or a freelancer, but hockey isn't their thing that's for sure. - hammarby31
It's a senior editor.... really, no excuse for not knowing last season was Giroux's third year and not his first (I'd bet anything the interviewer's "research" came from watching 24/7 where it said Briere has made a little tradition of having "rookies" live in his home, Couturier this year after Giroux lived there). Also no excuse for not double-checking the correct spellings of Gilmour and Zach.

that's unheard of...asking too much...the internet has not been invented for these guys...they don't know how to google - phi1671
If one more person sends me something this week calling for a call-out box definition of something without giving me the definition I'm going to snap. They have Wikipedia, too, damn it!
