There would have to be someone else lined right up who already is in tune with the pulse of the league. As much as I hate the thought that we need to bring back every former player, Dudley may be the best candidate. - keptupl8
We wouldn't be able to bring in Dudley until the end of the season anyway. He's under contract with Toronto and can only interview with other teams during the offseason.
It's not a good idea to bring a new GM in during the season. They feel forced to make changes for the sake of making changes. It also makes the team a target to other teams. You don't want someone to come in and sell off pieces just to make changes. That's not a good idea. - HonkFortheGoose
Agreed. I really think thats what the plan in place is. Wouldnt be surprised if new GM had some type of connection to Penguins either past or present. Maybe their assistant GM Jason Botterill, also had ties with Sabres
Do you have some sort of spy cam in his office that tells you he's refusing phone calls from other GMS?
Making changes for the sake of making changes isn't always a good thing either. If you bring a GM into this situation right now, you're essentially setting them up for failure. You're forcing his hand and that's not a good idea. - HonkFortheGoose
I have lost count of how many beat writers I have read that have heard that complaint from other GMs.
There are a lot of GMs that no longer do business with Darcy for either that reason, or his tendency to completely overprice his players.

Burke has said that he would never stand in the way if one of his staff members has an opportunity that they would like to take.

That may be true, but it begs the question - did your spy camera allow you to read Dudley's contract with the Maple Leafs and figure that out?
It is completely possible that his contract allows him to take other jobs. You have no idea.
What's the problem with Roy? The guy always seems to have around 70-80 points, and now you want him gone for mid range prospect and a pick? - DepecheModer
This city despises Roy. Even moreso after Tim Connolly left.
Buffalo fans hate anyone who seems unmotivated.
I can't tell if he is merely lazy or if he is simply been destroyed by Lindy Ruff's coaching. I imagine both look the same.

Just glad you guys gave Erhoff that horrible contract for a decade. Because there is no doubt that we would have done the same contract and probably paid more lol - the ceez
Erhoff is not the problem and neither is 4 mil a year. If the d would gel he would be fine doing his thing at 4 mil a year. And you know if the sabres didn't want him around past3 years he will be gone.

See, you have your "sources" and I have mine.
Everyone is quick to point the finger at one particular guy, but really the list of things that are wrong here is so long there isn't a quick fix. - HonkFortheGoose
Here is one place where it was written that Darcy doesn't return phone calls:

This comment is the absolute state of the Sabres right now. A lot of people want Roy gone, or Darcy fired now or whatever. While that's all accurate, those moves aren't going to make us a cup contender. Its going to be awhile.
Disgusting. It makes you wonder what Regier does at all for his salary.
He should be fired for this alone. But I am sure that Pegula will just accept the annual "there just weren't any deals" excuse for standing pat. - SabreSufferer
This one time, in band camp, Darcy Regeir............

I absolutely agree that there are several changes that need to happen.
However, there is a good chance that none of them will happen without a new GM.
He is not firing Ruff, like he should.
He cannot trade his players, because he either refuses to speak to other GMs or because he thinks every current Sabre is the next Bobby Orr.
The Sabres are stuck in neutral with Darcy. No one is saying that the next GM is going to simply wave a magic wand and win the Cup. There is a lot of work to do.
Yes and no. I believe we could take Det/Chi.
Im scared poopless of St Louis
Kesler can take Nashville single handily....again.
It will all come down to match-ups, mind you this is a post season discussion, one in which you all have no place in. - Whiskey-Tango
You guys have a good reg season mabe even finish first in the west, but you won't make it past round 1or2 getting beat by better deeper teams like chi, det, stl then u guys can march into downtown Vancouver and destroy the city again just like last year. Done defend your team by harking on others. Just don't see what u got against buff just cause we signed erhoff? Grow up get some hockey sense.
I'll give you the Burke one.. but is Bucky really going to be your source of information on how Darcy does his job?
I'll agree it is time to move on, but Bucky needs to say how he knows that, not just say it cause he thinks it is true. - UncleTerry
Won't happen. He is not going to throw his sources under the bus just to appease the "I don't believe anything the Buffalo News says" crowd. You can either believe him or not.

I don't discount everything that the Buff News says. I just have a hard time believing that Bucky has any type of inside line on how Darcy does his job.
Do I believe that he might have a harder time making deals than someone else? Sure, but that doesn't mean he doesn't try to make deals
