I said it before and I'll say it again, Cooter's hockey smarts are the best I can remember seeing from any 18/19 year old rookie in recent history.
Yes Jordan Staal had a fantastic rookie season but I think Cooter will be an even better two way forward. His ability to read plays on both sides of the puck is amazing. - Baxter27
I love how he handles himself.
Scores a goal and reacts like no big deal, I'll get 100s more.
His skating is better than advertised but that's one area he can work on as well as adding muscle. All things that will come with filling out and growing from a teenager to a man.
Love the kid, couldn't be happier.

Good stuff, Bill. A perfect example a decade and a half ago was Peter White. Consecutive 100 point seasons in the A and third- to fourth- line duty in the NHL.
Harry Z can bolster an AHL team. He merely complements an NHL squad. That's no knock on him or his effort. It goes back to Brian Propp's comments awhile back about how the NHL really does have the best players in the world because of how hard it is to succeed at that level compared to other leagues. |

I agree. I hear all the talk about his skating. But I don't see any issues there at all. He doesn't have the speed of Read, or Harry Z., but I think his skating is fine. |

I don't remember which play it was last game but a Flyers was simply flying on one play last game and I thought who in the hell is that and it was Cooter, he was hauling ass.
He's a tall skinny kid so he looks awkward so some assume he's not moving well.

with suter saying what he did and if nashville does not improve there offence is it safe to assume weber and suter will want out?
it seems suter already made his mind up about testing the market, if he was still in good talks with the preds, i cannot see how he could make those comments, because what he said should make the preds office a little unhappy.
would read+jvr+coburn+carle+2 firsts for suter and weber do it? |

Lol, No way Nashville trades both.
I do think Suter lowered his trade value a bit too with that comment. Nash must be pissed. |

Quote Richard Cloutier
"One final rumor: The one saying Jeff Carter to Calgary makes perfect sense. Carter is a good but overrated center with a questionable attitude, a wicked-long and pricey contract, and a NTC. He'd fit right in with their other misfits, and he'd help drain the Flames of more propsects and youth...so what's not to like?"
OK, which one of you escaped and took over Cloutier's blog and wrote this?

I just wanted to say the pic of your daughter with the devil ears, red boa and pink Flyers jersey was the bomb.
I think you might have your hands full when she hits teenager years, though. |

I wonder if the Flyers would look at Andy Sutton, the Oilers will have 8 NHL dmen in the next week or so, I'd assume he'd be fairly cheap like a pick.

I fear you're correct.
One of the teachers at the school was howling, he said she was the hit of jersey day. |

Oh, he's definitely been rushed into that role by depth issues. He's got the raw talent, for sure; just needs to harness it, and that comes with experience.
You think the Habs are going to be patient with him? - tangent_man
They have to. We havn't drafted a talented defenseman like Subban in a long time. You just don't trade a guy with his skill set after one average season. He hasn't been awful but like the rest of the team, he's been below average.
No denying he needs to make changes to his attitude. I have no doubt a lot of that stuff will go away as time goes by. |

When Tavares was drafted there were concerns about his skating as well. Hard to believe it now. |

Bill Meltzer: Flyers Gameday: 1/28/12 - bmeltzer
The only player I would consider moving right now is Andreas Lilja. I would be OK with moving any draft pick that isn't our first rounder for an upgrade on D. I would be OK with moving any prospect who's name isn't Sean Couturier, Braydenn Schenn Erik Gustafsson, Zac Rinaldo, Tom Sestito, Harry Zolnierczyk and Eric Wellwood. I would be okay with moving Marc-Andre Burdon at the right price but I do believe he'll get better as an NHL player.
The fact is, there isn't much I want to move to get better. I want Tim Gleason but I'm not willing to give up anything more then a second and a mid level prospect for him. |

The Habs aren't exactly making life easy on him because they get annoyed with the kid but Subban is a building block player, as is Price. It's easy to find talented forwards but players like Subban and Price don't come everyday.
Subban should be careful about what he says but I think the Habs themselves should be careful of what they say as well. Erik Cole is a new player in that dressing room and he completely threw PK Subban under the bus on national TV after the Red Wings game.
I'm sure Subban is a lot of things but I think the Habs should worry about becoming a better team before worrying about a young player. Especially based on the fact that Subban is one of their better players. |
