Why would the Flyers want a young player like Gustafsson as a 7th defenseman sitting in the press box? I'm am also leery of his size. But he seems to handle himself well. - MJL
I don't know. Why were the flyers okay with Bartulis making the team last season but having him as a 7th defenseman? Obviously Bartulis isn't Gustafsson but Bartulis would have been better off with the Phantoms last season too. |

I had high hopes for Bartulis and then that should injury occured. Ever since then he hasnt been the same guy as he is very timid when he has the puck in the corners or behind the net. |

News: Claude Giroux will be a wearing a new helmet designed by Bauer in the weeks ahead that reportedly cushions the head against concussions according to Comcast SportsNet.
Analysis: Claude Giroux, who missed four games earlier in the season with a concussion, helped unveil the new helmet, which was called "RE-AKT" on Friday during All Star weekend festivities. It looks just like the current one most NHLers wear but has a different inner lining. Also testing the new helmet will be Washington's Alex Ovechkin and Tampa Bay's Steven Stamkos. |

Carolina is out of their mind when it comes to Gleason. When did he become this great defenseman? Anything more than a 2nd round pick is overpaying for him and if that isn't enough, continue to shop elsewhere. - stveshdy
Well certainly can agree on this. Second picks get passed around like party favors at every deadline in recent years. Gleason is a second round pick trade. |

wonder if they have what it takes to win the TIM GLEASON SWEEPSTAKES - Crimsoninja
apparently he's quite a hot commodity, I like him and have mentioned him as far back as a few years ago. Sounds like he might be a bit rich for the Flyers to acquire right now.
I can see an Andy Sutton maybe.
I'd be thrilled with a Robin Regehr but that won't be in the cards.

O'Donnell has been a healthy scratch 14 games this year. And has also missed games to injury. There isn't a lot of difference between the two players. - MJL
Sean O'Donnell is a tough customer and knows when to spark the team with a timely fight. I like that and I do feel that can be extremely important. For that alone I would perfect O'Donnell over Lilja. |

too bad Bauer doesn't have any big name players to test it out. |

Robin Regehr just crossed my mind last night as an add on. I just don't like his price tag. I'm still very much interested in Sheldon Souray for his physical play and bomb from the point that we're missing. |

Iginla--No
Morrow--Yes. I think Dallas would ship him to the Eastern Conference. |

I think both will be pushing for the playoffs.
But if not that could be interesting. If either get a great offer I could see it happen.
I'd love Morrow on the Flyers but not at the cost, I'd think it would cost a poop ton to trade for him.

Because Bartulis needed to go through Waivers to be sent down, and AHL time wouldn't have been any help to him. He was at the point where he was going to be a NHL D man or he wasn't. Bill explained that multiple times. - MJL

i know souray has come back to earth a bit since the hot start but i am intrigued by him as well. rebounds galore on the PP. but i cant really speak to his defensive play this year really

Looking at the UFA defenseman, wouldnt mind if the Flyers added Boychuk, Johnny or Grossman, Nicklas.
Those are two names that interest me in the summer.
Grossman may be available at the TDL. |

Nobody else likes Johnny Oduya as a trading deadline pick up?
I think he would fit in pretty well.
Don't hear his name much, but he is UFA coming up and could play 20 minutes/game I think here. |

I guess it depends on what your looking for. He's more of a defensive defenseman. But he's not very physical, doesn't block a lot of shots, so he wouldn't be high up on my list. But he's not a bad player.
