Possible. I have no clue how Carle is viewed by other GM's around the league. Steady, yes, but he's not big and physical, which tends to bring the bigger money. - rockychocbill
I think he will get north of 5 million. Puck movers are valued. Some GMs will ignore that he isn't big, physical, and has a pop gun shot. |

Wow, Dmen are gonna be scarce come the TDL. I say trade a 3rd for some sort of rental depth guy, and go after Suter if he's still avail in the offseason. - Hextall271

Tim Gleason is now making $4mm per year. Carle is going to get paid well. |

oatmeal with bananas, three eggs (I think over easy). That's the only part I saw. I should be watching these. It's usually my thing. But Bergeron was so boring it was unwatchable and I haven't tried to watch another. - bodiva88
I watched both the Bergeron and Kane ones on U-Tube. Waste of time. Nobody wanted to be on camera. I was surprised how often Kane dissed Toews behind his back. It was beyond just joking imo. I think he's truly jealous or something.
The preview for the upcoming NHLPA series (with new TV superstar Scott Hartnell) looks better though. |

So you think if Homer offers him 5 mil a year for 4 years he takes it or goes to UFA? I think with Pronger out of the picture, we have to re up. Losing Carle straight up, and with no guartantees we can replace him with a UFA, is baad news. |

If Tim Gleason can command a $1.25mm raise, plus a full NTC in the first two seasons, Carle will get at least $5mm |

I still worry that Holmgren makes a big splash deal at the TDL, for a long term fix...which is dumb. You don't trade for long term at the TDL, unless you're selling.

There is a pretty decent UFA crop of dmen. Guys like Suter, Boychuk, Wideman. There will be options available. It's going to take 5+ million to get Carle, I would rather look elsewhere. |

If it takes $4.5mm or so to add Boychuck, I;d rather keep Carle @ $5mm |

A lot of players hate morning skates I've heard. He has enough tenure to take a pass on them. Obvs age has a lot to do with it too. - rockychocbill
There are a number of older players who don't do morning skates. I think it's up to them to know what works for them. I found it interesting he knew he'd feel sluggish if he slept in. I didn't watch the whole thing, but I expect he still takes a nap, right? Everyone loves their nap! |

I agree, but the org always seems to be going for the gold which is good and bad. Homer's done a lot to impress me since he's taken over, and every time I even think of questioning a move, he shows me I know nothing.. |

You can still go for the gold in the summer. Don't do it at the trade deadline, when the other guy's Chevy Cavalier will cost you the same as a Mercedes |

Not sure Boychuk will go from 1.8 to the 4.5 range, he could though. GM's overpay for dmen. I actually think the Bruins will lock him up before he becomes a UFA. I suspect the UFA crop will be thinned somewhat with guys signing deals like Gleason did today. |

He could. Wisniewski went from $2.75mm to $5.5mm and he had a rep as something of a problem child. |

I'm the same way if I sleep in. I only do it once a month or so. I'm sure most players take a pre-game nap after lunch. No more than an hour though I think. They (whoever they is) say that 20-30 mins is optimum for most folks. |

haha No. I was thinking that 29 other teams would swoop in and get Briere. |

True. I think teams like Columbus have to significantly overpay to attract free agents, if all things are equal why would anyone want to sign with them? |

Boychuk could be the poster child for that if he hits market. SC winner. Young and physical defenseman, good size decent mobility... |

I still think you can find a GM that has to opposite need as the Flyers do, and can work out a mutually beneficial deal. So far the closest is Toronto. We need defense that will last us a while, they need a power forward.
I would also put Nashville in that Club. They need offense, and have excess defenseman. Maybe if they arent moving Suter or Weber they can move Ellis or Blum...
Or maybe you go to LA, again, a team that has Defense, but needs offense. Maybe you get Jack Johnson for Voracek...
The options are out there. You dont have to necessarily match a seller to a buyer team to get a deal done. You just have to have the opposite needs. IMO the Flyers need to find a match with a team that either needs Offense or Goaltending, and get a Defenseman back in the deal... |
