We still owe them for the Zhitnik-Coburn trade...
- leon neon
Oh God hahaha..
Well, Homer could REALLY use another steal of that nature in order to replenish the D. I hope some teams that are close to missing the playoffs and under pressure to make them start to panic and give Homer a call. I see the Leafs in that situation. A five game losing streak out of the break could set Burkie into panic mode. |

They Leafs players were not loved - Buts16
Normally, this stuff doesn't bother me... And, I have no love for the Leafs. But, I thought it was down-right rude. Especially, during the draft - Every time Lupul spoke... It's similar to what I tell my kidz... Once is funny, twice is old news, more than three time is just not funny, irritating, and rude. |

the draft part bothered me as well, sounded like the crowd from the Springer show.

The problem is that we don't really have a "Zhitnik" type - old reliable experienced player without a NTC/NMC. Zhitnik was not to bad while playing for us, although he went downhill quick. I think we're in the market for a "Zhitnik", I hope Homer has the smarts not to trade youth for him. |

Good point. I don't see anyway Homer mortgages any part of the future for a win now. I can see the future going in the offseason for a Weber or Suter, but no way he gives a 1st for Gleason etc.. He just restocked the cupboards at least at the NHL level.. why turn around and empty them again when we haven't proven to be a top contender. 2 years from now, we'll be a force if he sorts out the D. |

I wouldnt mind the Boo once or twice, just because its a rivalry, but to boo every time, and try to boo through his picks were just aweful. But some fans ruin it for all. |

Oh come on. Am i going to be the first one to mention that Suter said at the All-Star draft that he would not be signing before the trade deadline? That might seal his fate. And am I also going to be the one to point out Suter and Timonen were playing together yesterday.... Ok let the speculations begin. |

i like phil kessel more and more every time i hear him speak. the guy could not possibly want less to do with being a celebrity. you hear him on the bench after he scored, pierre is asking him if he feels better than he did the day before. "no. i feel awful." love that guy. |

I said the same thing (kinda) last night.
He didnt say he wasnt going to resign before the season ends, did he?
If it was Weber that said that, I dont think it would have been a big deal.. but by Suter (who is the UFA) it puts a ton of pressure on the team.. do you make other moves and try to make a run, or do you look at what you could possibly get in return for Suter and make a move. I dont put any stock with him being paired with Kimmo.. the captains and coaches make the line pairings.. |

I've speculated many times what I think the team should do. Homer's always agressive, so nothing shocks me really.
I just don't think Nash trades him while they are in the running. Bad message to the fans..I see them playing it out with this group, losing in round 2 and then trading him for a pick before 1 July if they can't get it done. It wouldn't shock me either to see Homer get Gleason for maybe a 2nd and harry Z or something like that. I don't trade JVR or Schenn unless it's for a bona fide young star Dman. Then I guess you draft another forward with your 1st pick to fill that void. |

If Nash could get a package like Coburn and JVR for Suter, then they may do it. Coburn may not be as good as Suter, but he will fill a void nicely, while JVR adds the offense they need. So that still keeps them in contention, while getting assetts for someone your going to lose as a UFA. |

If the Flyers were to make a trade like that Homer should be fired on the spot. |

Would be and should be. Trade those two for an impending UFA? I would be the one with a pitchfork and torch heading towards Voorhees.

That's a lot. I could be convinced to include Carle as we might not be able to sign him, but with JVR, that's a lot. The whole Pronger situation has us (frank)ed 8 ways to Tuesday IMO. |

As far as on ice this season and the next couple? Sure. But not $-wise. LTIR and it's like he was never there. |
