The Canes have signed defenseman Tim Gleason to a four-year, $16 million extension: carhur.com/cre - Buts16
Good, I didn't want the Flyers overpaying for a guy who wouldn't be a difference maker. |

So basically, they couldn't get anyone else to do it. - funmaster18
Nah, Reid trying to prove he's the smartest guy in the room still. |

Plus Suter has said he's not resigning before the TDL. Word is NSH will keep him through the playoffs and then look to get a deal done before July 1st ala Timonen and Hartnell deal.
We may be keeping Mr. Carle long term. |

The bad news on the Gleason extension? Matt Carle's agent is dancing naked around his office, biting the heads off bats and buying a cruise ship |

Cool. Gill for a third round pick would be a good move. |

No, really, they can't get anyone else to do it because anyone taking the DC job will want to install his own systems and assts and the Eagles are insisting on keeping the line coach and the 9wide. |

I never thought for one second that Suter or Weber would be moved before the end of the season. Any move would be a backwards step for them and their playoff run. |

Not if some wacked out GM throws a Wisniewski type contract at Carle. |

I felt it was a fair trade at the time, but it's been a steal in the early going for the Flyers - Jsaquella
It may work out that Cooter is the best overall player in the deal if you can imagine. |

Not sure if anyone saw the NHL36 after the all-star game, but Nicklas Lidstrom was featured. His nickname in Detroit is the perfect human. Amazing how regimented he is, and how well respected he is by everyone.
At 41, he's still the best dman in the sport. I can't imagine being a 20 something year old NHL player and having a 41 year old be light years better. That has to be humbling. - PLindbergh31
Must have been an entertaining episode.

Wow, Dmen are gonna be scarce come the TDL. I say trade a 3rd for some sort of rental depth guy, and go after Suter if he's still avail in the offseason. |

Ya, me too. This is an important year for them. Poille will be looking to add offense here pretty soon I think. |

The Winnipeg Jets announced they have traded forward Akim Aliu to the Calgary Flames for defenceman John Negrin
Aliu is the kid that Steve Downie beat up when they were teammates in the OHL. He's been traded more often than JJ Daigneault, it seems. |

I enjoyed it. On the second game of a back to back with travel, the Wings were in Dallas, and while the entire team was sleeping in, Lidstrom was by himself eating breakfast and reading the paper. I found it interesting that he never skates during morning skates the day of games, he always rides the stationary bike. |

Possible. I have no clue how Carle is viewed by other GM's around the league. Steady, yes, but he's not big and physical, which tends to bring the bigger money. |

oatmeal with bananas, three eggs (I think over easy). That's the only part I saw. I should be watching these. It's usually my thing. But Bergeron was so boring it was unwatchable and I haven't tried to watch another. |

A lot of players hate morning skates I've heard. He has enough tenure to take a pass on them. Obvs age has a lot to do with it too. |
