Also from the article:
NO TAKERS FOR CARTER
Columbus Blue Jackets center Jeff Carter remains a fixture in the rumor mill, this time courtesy of TSN's Darren Dreger, who recently reported Carter was “100 percent available,” but added his hefty contract could prove difficult to move.
Dreger claimed the Blue Jackets were seeking the same return (a good young roster player and a first round draft pick) they gave up to the Philadelphia Flyers to land Carter, but doubted the Jackets would find many takers.
He also dismissed a rumor linking Carter to the Maple Leafs, saying they had no interest in taking on that contract.

What if we traded Voracek and our first going into this draft for Carter and then traded Carter in the off season for Weber.
Personally, if we do the Luke Schenn for JvR deal, we can all say good bye to Shea Weber. |

Schenn's name has popped up in the rumor mill before, most recently linked to Philadelphia left winger James van Riemsdyk. If Burke is in pursuit of a top scoring forward, it will take a player like Schenn as the centerpiece in a package deal to get it done.

So it looks like others seem to think that any JVR/Schenn deal will require a package to come along with Schenn. I am firm that the Flyers might be able to get Schenn and a First for JVR and a 3rd. - RooNosHockey
It would have to be a heck of a package...

I don't think so. If Weber is traded during the regular season we have no chance (Which I highly doubt he will be). If Weber is traded in the off season, we have as good a chance as any team. |

One thing about these prolonged gaps that pock-mark the NHL schedule: They get ya pumped for a not-so-sexy game in late January! |

I have to admit that I'm a little surprised Jagr isn't ready to go. Each time he's pulled his groin this season the guy has magically deemed himself healthy enough to play much sooner then we could all expect. I can understand the temptation and the sort of pressure he must put on himself to play but this is when games were actually going on. Jagr hasn't played in 10 days and the NHL has been on break for a week. I'm not looking to rush the guy but I'm just noticing that this might be the first time he isn't returning much sooner then he should. - Schenn2shine
I felt he came back too soon the last time. I don't want him playing a game until he is 100% |

My point is that in both of your (above) scenarios.. you have him being traded.
I dont think Nashville would be that dumb. |

Nashville would be dumb to not trade Weber if Weber has no intention of signing with them. Every team has their reasons for trading a player, which is why we got Pronger to begin with. |

Because Pronger was a 26 year old RFA, one of the best d-men in the league, and about to enter the prime of his career? What does Pronger coming from Anaheim have to do with Weber in Nashville?
Nashville would be dumb if they didnt find a way to sign him long term. |

Those are two pretty potent guys unavailable for the Jets tonight, especially Kane, who always seems to be a thorn whenever he plays the Flyers. I feel good about this one for some reason - eayost
let me temper your optimism with the fact that i just realized i have a ticket to the game tonight. |

I loved the book club growing up. Do schools still do that? I remember you got a small pizza after getting a certain amount of stickers for reading books.

It's as simple as whether or not Weber wants to be there or not. Weber has already refused to sign with the Preds last summer, so both sides went to arbitration, which rewarded Weber with a 1 year 7.5 million dollar contract.
Why do you think everyone is so sure he'll be traded? |
