The point is, it's a 50/50 chance they score or not, no matter who it is. The same goes for the guys you want up there. Do I think Jagr has a better chance of scoring than those guys? I think so. Obviously it didn't happen tonight, but my point still stands.
The coach's decision to use him is not questionable. I rest my case. - feelingkettle
And some players are just better at it then others. Peter Forsberg as I remembered asked one of hitch or stevens not to put him into a shootout once. Is it safe to say that Briere and Giroux are better at the shootout then Jagr is no matter what there future status might be with the hall of fame?

The point is moot because neither Briere and Giroux scored tonight, for various reasons. My point is not that because he is a hall of famer, he will score in every shootout. My point is that his high skill set gives him a better chance of scoring than Read, Jake, or 2 dmen.

So you're just going on a hunch. If a game was on the line, I'd still go with Jagr over inexperienced players and 2 dmen. I am not sure why this is hard to understand. - feelingkettle

Okay, so what's Jagr's career percentage in the shootout, or does this not matter either?

I think he means this guy in the video is bad choice for a shootout option

Anyway, good talk guys.
Even though aparently I ask for Laviolette to be fired repeatly due to my short term memory, the accuser can't remember the last time I asked for Laviolette to be fired either.
It's been a very interesting. - Schenn2shine
Jagr's career percentage is not high. I know this. I doubt Read, Jake, Mezzy or Timonen's are better. It's a crap shoot either way. For you to talk about shootout percentage and then list those guys doesn't make much sense to me.

Well, you are young players who should look to improve in this area because they all have long careers ahead of them in the NHL (minus Timonen).

In my opinion, using inexperienced young guys is just as much a crap shoot as using Jagr. At least Jagr has a history of being a highly skilled goal scorer. I'm not saying he's the go to guy in the shootout, but to say the decision to use him is questionable is not correct.

And with that, I'm done. E - feelingkettle
So Jagr might be better then Giroux in the shootout, is that what's you're telling me?
it's not that important what you do on jan 31. it's getting hot down the stretch and carrying that into the playoffs. that said it was a disappointing effort against a team we should beat, injuries or not. hopefully they pick it up.
