My son is reading this series:
Our town's library has a book reading list for each grade and every kid that enters the reading program gets a bag of goodies at the end of the summer, including a gift card to B&N. - Flyskippy
Judging by the cover, it looks like an awesome book. |

Yes, Weber would have to like Nashville. Does he? He was drafted there, it doesn't mean he likes it there. - Schenn2shine
You cant say Weber has money. He is still going to want money. Its obvious that the contract he would sign in Nashville could hinder their chances of adding more pieces to be a contender. Just bc he hasnt signed a long term contract doesnt mean he wont. If Weber has money then sign a cheap deal that will allow the team to add pieces. |

Hammarby is attending the game tonight (myself as well) so that means they are screwed - nastyflyergirl
That means Mr. Buzzcut, 2Real, PLind, et al. will have to pick up the slack complaining in here. |

It's as simple as whether or not Weber wants to be there or not. Weber has already refused to sign with the Preds last summer, so both sides went to arbitration, which rewarded Weber with a 1 year 7.5 million dollar contract.
Why do you think everyone is so sure he'll be traded? - Schenn2shine
Weber is still RFA and can go to arbitration again. Granted it would make him a UFA after next season, but Nashville could trade him before next year's deadline if they are unable to make another deal. |

I'm not understanding why this is so hard to understand because I've gone into great detail to far. Not this summer but the next, if Nashville hasn't sign Weber to a long term deal before becoming a UFA, Weber can walk and Nashville gets nothing. - Schenn2shine
So why not wait till next year to trade him? Why use next season to try to resign him and prove that the org wants to win?
Im not understand either.
I dont know anybody who thinks its obvious that Weber will be traded.. hell I think most would agree that Nashville would be making a monumental mistake trading him. |

Believe it or not, I just finished a Hardy Boys book ... Brought back good memories!
I recommend any middle-aged male try it.

Shea Weber is already making 7.5 million dollars. He has money. He doesn't have the years. |

Yes, incapable of preventing triple deflections from reaching the goalie and although a top goal scorer is not THE top goal scorer. |

They could trade Weber at this year's deadline, next year's deadline, this summer and they could trade his rights before becoming a UFA in the summer of 2013 if he's still Nashville property. |

Maybe Weber will sign an 8 year deal for 1M a year. Since he already has money, that will give him the years. |

Shea Weber would love to make more money.
My point is if he has money like you suggested then sign a long term deal for less money so your team can add pieces that are needed. The problem is Weber isnt taking less money anywhere he goes. |

I thought the Preds GM only did contracts over the off season. No? - coffee junkie
Didn't they just sign thier goalie to an extension during the season, which made resigning Suter and Weber unlikely in the first place?
I think Weber is just waiting to see what happens with Suter. Both guys want to be on a winning team, and they want Nashville to commit to spending the money it would take. If Nashville resigns Suter, I would expect Weber to resign. If Nashville trades Suter and gets good player, I would expect Weber to sign. If Nashville loses Suter for nothing, I expect Weber to go to Arbitration, get a 1 year contract, and then go to FA. |

It depends on if Weber wants to stay there. I have no doubt in my mind that the Preds want to keep him but Weber has to be willing to stay. Weber is already making 7.5 million dollar, how much more could Weber really ask for then that? It's a matter of whether or not Weber is interested in committing to the Preds. They don't exactly have a history of winning. |

The scary thing about weber is that if it were an open market (him being a UFA) I could see teams offering him outrageous contracts. Imagine a team like Fla. trying to improve and reach the cap floor and stay there (dont know if they need help with that or not).. they could potentially offer him something like 8 years 80 million. |

Honestly.. if he got say a 10 year deal from them I could see him getting around 85 mil. Open market probably higher. |

Last time I checked the Flyers and Predators have the same amount of Stanley Cups over the past twenty five years. So what makes Philadelphia a contender (the fact they spend more)? |
