They could trade Weber at this year's deadline, next year's deadline, this summer and they could trade his rights before becoming a UFA in the summer of 2013 if he's still Nashville property. - Schenn2shine
Right, but they still have up until the summer of 2013 to work out a contract too. Nothing saying they have to trade him. They might convince him to stay. |

Last time I checked the Flyers and Predators have the same amount of Stanley Cups over the past twenty five years. So what makes Philadelphia a contender (the fact they spend more)? - stveshdy
How many Stanley Cups do the 2 clubs total? How many playoff runs do both teams have total? The Flyers are committed to winning, there is no question of this. |

I never said Weber didn't want more money. I think it's a matter of whether or not Weber wants to commit to the Nashville Predators. - Schenn2shine
You said Weber has money. I take that as he doesnt want more money bc he has it. Weber wants to be paid and he will be no matter where he goes. Playing for a contender can mean a million different things to Weber. |

has jeff carter become a bust? - mydoglicks
not according to ek, who says in his current blog that he's "grown" in columbus, and he's "fairly confident" he can return to being a 40 goal scorer. |

She provided goal support. Needed you there to shut the door. Didn't happen.

That means Mr. Buzzcut, 2Real, PLind, et al. will have to pick up the slack complaining in here. - Flyskippy
absolutely. |

Honestly.. if he got say a 10 year deal from them I could see him getting around 85 mil. Open market probably higher. - jak521
Okay, so what's the point here? Why wouldn't Weber take the path of the open market then? That's even more of a reason for the Preds to trade him. |

The Flyers been around alot longer than Nashville. Any team can be a contender at any year. |

You can take it anyway you want, it doesn't mean you took it the right way. The bar is set for Weber, he's going to get a lot of money anywhere he signs. |

Well, once the real world kicked him in the face (you know, when the bad guys started sending 300 lb leg breakers after his ass), he piped down a bit.

Once again it depends on what Weber considers a contender. Does that mean winning the Cup or making the playoffs and having a chance? Im not Weber but Nashville has been heading in the right direction imo.
I rather go to Detroit then Philly, if im Weber. |

You're right. My guess is that they won't because the Preds have yet to get out of the first round of the playoffs. As it stands, Weber is their offense and defense. |

If my son goes, you can bank on OT/SO. And, if he the way he's trended lately, a Flyers' hat trick (Briere then Hartnell). |

Now he pales in comparison to his far more popular rival, Wikipedia Brown. |

However, the constant PBS-style appeals for pledging are unnerving. |

The Nashville Predators in my mind have taken 2 steps forward and then one step back. They do have impressive talent with the likes of Shea Weber, Ryan Suter, Ryan Ellis and Pekka Rinne. Then you have to keep in mind that they keep allowing talent to walk away from them. Scott Hartnell, Kimmo Timonen and Dan Hamhuis. They've even brought in short term talents to help out like Peter Forsberg and Paul Kariya to stay competitive but it doesn't seem to last. |
