You can take it anyway you want, it doesn't mean you took it the right way. The bar is set for Weber, he's going to get a lot of money anywhere he signs. - Schenn2shine
If Nashville offers him the money, and shows that they are willing to spend money the right way to contend for the cup, he could decide its better to stay since he already has a house, is acumstomed to the front office and coaches, and likes the fan base. Just because he went to arbitration last year doesnt mean he will this year as well. Like I said earlier, I think what happens with Suter will decide what Weber wants to do, and if they resign Suter or get good value for him, and get a good UFA, then I think Weber resigns with the intent to win. If they dont get anything for Suter, or some rebuild project, then I think Weber will go to arbitration and become a UFA, in which he will be traded.... But to just assume that he will be traded, or is just looking for a pay day are both inaccurate... I think he wants to get paid, and wants to win. |

You're right. My guess is that they won't because the Preds have yet to get out of the first round of the playoffs. As it stands, Weber is their offense and defense. - Schenn2shine

The Nashville Predators in my mind have taken 2 steps forward and then one step back. They do have impressive talent with the likes of Shea Weber, Ryan Suter, Ryan Ellis and Pekka Rinne. Then you have to keep in mind that they keep allowing talent to walk away from them. Scott Hartnell, Kimmo Timonen and Dan Hamhuis. They've even brought in short term talents to help out like Peter Forsberg and Paul Karya to stay competitive but it doesn't seem to last. - Schenn2shine
Hartnell and Timonen were let go because they didn't think they could afford either of them.
Letting Timonen go was a bit easier because the Preds had guys like Weber, Hamhuis, and Suter that they knew were going to be able to carry the load. Same thing with Hamhuis being let go with guys like Josi, Laakso, Blum, and Ellis.
I gurrantee you Poile does all he can to keep Hartnell if he knows Radulov jumps ship. Different style wingers? Yes. But Nashville has lacked high end production at the forward position for quite some time now.. (EDIT: While its not high end, this season they are certainly getting balanced scoring between 3 lines)
Their team they have now consists almost entirely of players they have drafted. With the exception of one or two d-men and 3 or 4 forwards, everyone on the roster is home-grown. When you look at how competitive they are each year, that says something.
Has to be one of the best run organizations in the leauge in the last 5 years. |

Once again it depends on what Weber considers a contender. Does that mean winning the Cup or making the playoffs and having a chance? Im not Weber but Nashville has been heading in the right direction imo.
I rather go to Detroit then Philly, if im Weber. - stveshdy
Detroit is a great Hockey town, but I wouldn't want to live there. If I was given an option between playing in Detroit and Philly, I would take Philly because of Travel and Living conditions. Detroit is getting really poor. The Hockey towns are similiar, and Philly is actually set up to win now and in the future... Detroits players are getting older. |

I didn't "just say" anything. I said what I feel could happen and I've given a great amount of detail as to why. Obviously I could be wrong and he could sign a deal with Nashville. |

“Philadelphia told me about Zac Rinaldo,” said Shanahan. “He’s a really big hitter. Hits hard. But they said to him that if you see 20 hits a game in your head, pick the best three. That’s enough to be a physical, intimidating player in this League. When I hear coaching like that, that’s when I’m thinking there’s full buy-in there.”
The Rinaldo comment is perhaps the most interesting, as it’s rare you hear a team telling a fourth-liner to pass up hits. Most of the time it’s, “You play six minutes a night. Hit everything that moves and don’t turn the puck over.”

There is no reason why the Nashville Predators should allow one forward to walk in favor of another. Hartnell is in his 5 season as a Flyer and Nashville is still having trouble getting scoring at forward. Look at the Flyers, they've made it work. We've had 3 lines that can score since the season we signed Briere, Hartnell, Lupul etc. Even when we've traded away a scoring forward, we've replaced that scoring forward. |

Or it could be a "don't go running around to make every hit and take bad penalties" approach. They may have sensed a tendency for him to take himself out of the play to make a hit. Focus on the game at hand is just as important as intimidation.

Other side of the coin, it might be the Flyers coaching recognizing he brings a decent bit of hockey skill to the table outside of hitting. Certainly he's an agitator type player, one you want to bring a physical presence and annoy the opposition, but I think he's shown proficient enough in other areas that you wouldn't want him to diminish his game for the sake of making every hit he can. |

I never want Andy Sutton to wear the orange and black after his classless hit from behind on Lasse Kukkonen.

Possibly, but it's probably the training staff telling him to not hit and skate so much because they discourage stretching. |

Is this team really icing 8 rookies again tonight? Not that they have a choice, and the kids are doing great, but that is just crazy. It wasn't that long ago that 2 rookies in the line-up at one time was almost unheard of. |

Totally Agree. But I think that Weber and Suter are both looking for them to take the next step by keeping the talent they have, and adding to it with either trades or UFA. They have done a good job at drafting and developing those draft picks, but they have been pretty poor at holding onto talent when it comes time to pay them, or reach out and snag good players to add to thier drafted players. I think that is what Suter and Weber want to see from Nashville before resigning...
