Typical Chicago fan living in the past but it doesn't surprise me. Enjoy it because there is no way the Hawks will get another with this soft team. Your team is too small and weak to succeed in playoff hockey. Plus your goaltending is suspect. This Hawks team is going nowhere in the playoffs...deal with it.
- CanUSA17

And what makes you think your band of mental midgets will run the table this time? Your basically saying the hawks have no shot at the cup off one game that they lost in ot. These teams look about as even as can be.

I guess it depends on defensive philosophies, but if the forward is all the way down there, the point is completely open. Van has some pretty good point shots so that's pretty dangerous too.
- Walky

It is a rotation. If Kane stays with his man then Bolland cover the high slot taking away the d on Kane's side.

Sedin was Kane's man. And Keith probably played most of the last 15 minutes of the 3rd and the majority of the OT. Eventually he wears out and what's on the bench to give him a breather? John Scott. Just absurd that they dress #32..
- RickJ

What?????? This is just getting silly. How in 4 on 4 hockey do you think your least defense forward should be covering their most skilled scorer? How many times have you heard the announcers say "4 on 4 the forwards cover the defense and the defense cover the forwards." Its man on man hockey. Bolland noticed Seabs and Keith puck watching and came OFF his D man to try and HELP. That was Keith and Seabrooks fault. The sedins made them look silly.

Nope I never made it to the NHL. I played Junior B. What about you, where's your ring? Dork.
- Boinker

Well dork I'm in the same boat as you as I never made it to the NHL. But to answer your initial stupid question with a stupid answer, no I don't think anyone has ever heard of Corey Schneider.

Once again, you're talking about a team not winning ANOTHER ONE win your team has yet to win ONE. Getting way ahead of yourself over a regular season game in January, but hey, whatever works for you.

Every team has the reputation of inflating their hit totals at home...which makes it all the more disturbing when they consistently get outhit by a wide margin at home.
- Ogilthorpe2

If they play like they did tonight, that trend may change. Lots of physical play and finished checks. I know all teams have that reputation, but I thought VAN had a reputation of overdoing it. Plus many of the hits may have been Edler and Bieksa hitting for the sake of hitting, which actually got us a lot of offensive chances.

Ca PHAGS...STILL CUPLESS.
- philco28

Such incredible intelligence that you are showing...only outweighed by even more incredible stupidity. You missed a great game by 2 excellent teams tonight. Talk about that maybe -- if you are able to string a few words together coherently.

To Hawks hockey fans: Keith is going to wear down playing 30+ minutes a game, isn't he? Love the way Seabrook plays but he'll wear down as well if the Hawks continue going with 5 D.

Looks like the "Ya well at least we won the Cup!" dimwitted statement is out in full force tonight. I'm sure the Hawks players are resting easy thinking the same thing tonight.

That's fairly accurate but the minutes eventually add up. Keith was over 30 (43 shifts) and Seabrook pretty close to that. Way too much against a team like Vancouver and just illustrates why 1 Dman if not 2 are required. Nobody in the league except Nashville plays their top pairing 30 minutes.

Need at least 1 defenceman, preferably 2.

- RickJ

Rick,

If Q insists on using Scott, the Hawks need 2 on D. To my dying day I'll never comprehend Scott being on the roster. The man would be 3rd pair in Rockford, with 10 min. TOI.

Truth hurts doesn't it? About a month ago the Hawks couldn't even decide who the #1 goalie was...Crawford? Emery? Crawford? Emery? Doesn't even matter. Canucks played bad and still won.

There should not have to be rotations or philosophies on 4 on 4. Its man on man. Now could Kane, Like Bolland have noticed a mishap and came off his man to help and leave the two point men wide open. Yes maybe but that would have been above and beyond his job.

Weren't the hawks outhit often during their cup run year?
- golfbard

Yes. When you have the puck in your possession in the offensive zone you don't tend to do a lot of hitting, which is why hit totals are a bit overrated. You would always prefer to dominate possession time over chasing the other team and making hits. Quality and timeliness far more important than quantity when it comes to hits, unfortuately this season we've been getting neither and the rate at which they are getting out hit has reached ridiculous levels.

You can point the finger at Kane or at Bolland, but again, Keith simply has to block that pass from behind the net. As I said before, if you aren't gonna rush him and force him into making a move, that's fine, but then you can't let him sit back there and put a pass between the post and yourself to his Brother for the tap in. Keith's effort on that was weak to say the least.
- RetiredGoalie

Both Keith and Kane were at fault on the play. Keith has to deny the pass but Kane definitely has to be in position to take the option away that turned out to be the goal scorer. I cut Keith some slack because of his TOI tonight. Kane just doesn't know what he's doing in the defensive zone.

Because our most skilled forward needs to pick his head out of his ass and quit pouting because he hasn't scored a goal. Kane let Sedin walk right to the front of the net. That was his guy.

Not really seeing as how I'm a Penguins fan.
Just find it funny when fans bring that out. Means they are grasping at straws. When all else fails, bring up the fact that your favorite team won a Stanley Cup a few seasons ago. Hey, Leafs fans are still doing it and the last time they won was in '67! I always cringe when I hear Pens fans say it as it doesn't mean much anymore. It's a new season. You lost the game. Own it, get over it and move on.

[quote=Walky]Seeing many posts about Hawks being outhit. Being outhit is ok. More important is that people are finishing checks. The Hawks aren't the Bruins and aren't going to run people out of the building. They aren't built that way. Now at 2:1, thats a bit concerning, but doesn't VAN have a reputation of inflating their hit totals at home?/quote]

No, the Canucks don't usually outhit teams and the hits aren't inflated. Edler was all over the Hawks tonight.

Uhhh.. We are owning up to it. Read back.. The cashmucks fans were the ones who jumped on the Blackhawks board to trash talk over a regular season win in january and how well never win another cup. Well if they are smart, they shouldn't be talking cups.

In full agreement Rick. This team will not be a SERIOUS contender unless they add one, and preferably two defensemen.

Both teams have holes. Pretty evenly matched. There is no clear cut favorite in the west. Canucks will benefit from playing in that pathetic division. Hawks, blues, wings, preds all will beat on one another.

Schneider won the game for van. What's up with mr kesler?

Meh, what's done is done. Like I said, look how retarted Leafs fans look when they whip out the "At least we won a Cup!" statement. It's in the past. Believe me, I would know. Before Crosby I was definitely clinging to the early 90's. You lose a game, other fans beak you. That's how it works in case you haven't realized yet. You don't think that if the Hawks would have won there would be no Hawks fans in the Canucks forum?
