Aside from losing in OT again which blows, I thought the Hawks played a very good game and it was probably the first time since the Cup year where the Hawks had the Canucks on their heels all game long. They controlled most of the game and played disciplined hockey. I was at the first Hawks-Nucks game this year where the Hawks played like clowns and we got drubbed. Since then though the Hawks seem to have cut out the BS when playing these guys and it looks like they're extremely confident playing Vancouver.

Overall it was a great hockey game and Schneider played outstanding, if not for him it's probably a 5 or 6-2 Hawks win. CC had a nice game too, this was one of his better games of late. This wasn't a bad loss at all by the Hawks, take the point (which you earned in a hard building to play in) and win the next two (which are games they should win).

As far as the bridge jumpers, DET and NSH will not be playing at a .800-.900 clip the rest of the year. Calm down, it's a marathon not a sprint.

Agreed on all points. The only problem seems to be that the officiating has a hard time measuring up to the quality of play by the teams. That penalty given to Ballard was ridiculous, I was glad the Hawks didn't score on the PP.

As a Hawks fan, I think the Canucks have another gear and the Hawks don't because they really only have 4 defenceman. In a 7 game series, Keith and Seabrook are used up and burned out after about 4 games. Bowman must find somebody in the trade market to help back there.

That is noticable .Time to fix it over the next month.

I'm no genius in coverages, but ideally wouldn't you want keith pinching down there, taking away time and space. Seabrook then shifts to front side to stop passes. And either your center or winger takes the backside? If a forward had come down to play the scoring sedin, you end up with two players standing next to each other which means someone is uncovered and if you get the puck back, it makes breakouts more difficult.

4 on 4 is man to man, keith was clearly taking Henrik behind the net. Kane gave up and Daniel walked right in. Game. Kane's fault. Stop making excuses for him.

GG tonight. Pretty damn entertaining. Ignore the trolls.

Should have been a Penalty Shot in OT but there also should have atleast been 1 Canucks PP in reg.

Hodgsen has turned out to be a money man. He comes through when the team needs him. Many people predicting soon this will be his team not Henriks. He seems to be a lot like Linden was.

Shaw looks very good also .Very impressed with his game.

Vantel,

What are Vancouver's biggest deadline needs? If there's one thing I think you guys lack from last year it's 3rd and 4th line scoring and grit (maybe I'm wrong cause I've only seen you guys a handful of times). I know Hodgsen has had a breakout season but it seemed like last year guys like Malhotra, Torres, and Lapierre made the bottom 6 tougher to play against and took some of the weight off lines 1&2.

So CanUSA17 , the kid from Schaumburg is back , what a h o m o. He's a HUGE Vancouver Canucks fan , also loves the New England Patriots , Saint Louis Cardinals , and Dallas Mavericks. Get a life you fukn troll. The Canucks will never win the Stanley Cup , 1 game away might as well be 16 games away. You're a fair weather fruit cake

What?????? This is just getting silly. How in 4 on 4 hockey do you think your least defense forward should be covering their most skilled scorer? How many times have you heard the announcers say "4 on 4 the forwards cover the defense and the defense cover the forwards." Its man on man hockey. Bolland noticed Seabs and Keith puck watching and came OFF his D man to try and HELP. That was Keith and Seabrooks fault. The sedins made them look silly.

Keith was clearly taking Henrik behind the net. If Kane wasn't covering Daniel, then who was he covering? Please.

Stop making excuses.

Troy Murray has forgotten more about hockey than 99% of tis board (myself included) will ever know. To his credit, he called it correctly (and didn't let up—I'm sure that will endear him to the Propaganda Ministry).

Lost point.

This year my favorite teams are the Bruins, Mavs, Packers, Cardinals, Barcelona, Manchester United, and the LA Galaxy. And you're still a 'mo.

I wouldn't say that Keith took Henrik behind the net. Keith never moved. It makes no sense to have a forward covering a forward in the slot, with a defenseman standing right next to him. I didn't even know Kane was on the ice at the end of the game until reading here. I'm not making excuses but talking about whose coverage is whose. If Keith isn't going behind the net, he needs to take the guy that comes to the slot, he did neither and Henrik made a great pass. It looked like one of those beauties from the ASG skills comp. I'm no fan of Kane's recent efforts especially on defense, but your tone this morning sounds very angry at him. It was a well played game and more efforts like that will get plenty of wins for the hawks.

Raymond will probably be moved .Ballard might also. Our needs are the very same as Chicagos.Ruttu Allen Gleason Sutton Gill have been the topics of our needs also.I think in the playoffs we have a kid name Duco (on the Wolves) He is a real poop disturber along the lines of Bolland and Marchand.I think when salary doesn't matter he will get the call up same as this 6'5 Bitz coming back off injury .They will probably look at him.A name that has been in many rumours is Moen.So as you see we are chasing the same players.

I posted it right after the game, but I think it got lost in the smack talk. WHAT WAS Q THINKING putting Kane out there against Honk and Donk in a 4-4 situation? #88 doesn't provide any D-zone coverage, the whole team ends running around, and it's in the back of the net. While Kane certainly could have done more to prevent that goal, I blame Q for putting him out there against those two, even if it's with Bolland. I know he wants to give them an offensive chance, but with the time that was left, through a better defensive forward out there and then give Kane and Toews the last 45 seconds of OT. That's a lost point you can blame on the coaches too.

Great game. Lots of fun to watch. Despite not getting the second point, there was lots to like. To wit:

*Corey Crawford was outstanding.

* Despite being down to 5 Defensemen (albeit by their own doing.) and being outgunned at the dot, the Hawks had one of their better defensive games.

* Stalberg was flying. His speed really opened up the Vancouver D. Stalberg has been affective against both Vancouver and Detroit.

* BMo looked tentative, but he really started clicking with Sharp and Hossa. Granted, that involves giving the puck to Hossa and getting out of his way. But he made he looked okay.

* Hjalmarsson's best game of the year? I thought so.

That's a lot of good things for the first game of the trip. Vancouver played awfully well. this game and the Bruins game were the two best games I've seen out of the Canucks, and both featured Borat as a 6.7 million dollar doorman. But the Sedins 4-on-4 are simply a treat to watch. Just ask Kaner, he looked like he had a great seat.... I Keed I keed.

On to Alberta.

In OT, I kept seeing Kane floating out by the blueline trying to cherry pick on every shift in his own zone. I think he is so screwed up in the head with this scoring drought that he has now lost whatever little defensive responsibility he had before. The kid is super talented but he is part of the reason this team is faltering right now.

Hawks get outhit? YAWN. Phucking sick of getting outhit. Tallon would never let us get outhit.
- philco28

Phucking... super clever congratulations on your mastery of the English language.

The Hawks were outhit most games in the 09-10 season. It's what happens when you have the puck for most of the game. Since their most recent renaissance they have not been a physical team. Seabrook, Brouwer and Byfuglien I think are the only players during the most recent era to accumulate 200+ hits in a season.

They will have more size next year, and definitely in two when some of their bigger (in relation to physical mass) prospects start getting into the mix. Sorry you have to wait. I'm sure you could construct a well versed letter to the organization and convince them to do something desperate and drastic tomorrow though.

Agreed. My god....Time to for a lot of us to fess up...WE got beat. WE don't lose because of the refs, or some conspiracy. Christ. The whining makes the fan base look like a bunch of b-tches.

Seabrook and Keith fronted him behind the net, and trusted the forwards to eliminate the slot chance. Sadly, 88 and his 1% defensive IQ was on the ice and Bolland couldn't quite get down quick enough to cover up for Kane's LAZINESS. I saw the play far too many times on NHL network. It's clear as day.

Crawford played very well. Hope everyone who was riding his @ss because he didn't stone Hodgson on the breakaway, enjoyed his post to post save on Sedin in OT.

PP sucks. If Mike Kitchen isn't sent on a permament vacation at season's end, I'm going to lose it.

Agree on the calls part, for every bad call against you there will be a bad call in your favor. Those things even out over a long season. Does no good to whine over it.

Agree on the power play too. This team is WAY too talented to look like a bunch of dummies on the PP. Not enough crashing the net, too much playing/ bad shooting from the perimeter (I'm looking at you 2 & 10, you don't have to shoot every shot from 60 ft away).

One of Frolik and Bickel will be gone soon IMO and Hayes will be back to provide some size that willingly plays around the opposition goaltenders crease. You see the disturbace a little guy like Shaw can create, the team needs more of that.

Who was Kane covering? Who was he making any effort to cover? He should have taken Sedin.

He was drifting up ice, thinking only about breaking out, not playing defense. End of story.

Problem is not how bad Scott is, it's that a) the team is soft as jello without him in the lineup and b) he is not that much worse than the alternatives.

And you are giving Seabrook a free pass on this play? And Keith as well?

Last time that I looked, it's near-impossible to score from behind the net so why go back there? Cover the guys out front and let Crawford deal with any attempted wrap-around.

From the looks of things to me, that top pairing of 2 & 7 fell asleep once again on that play and placing blame on Kane and/or Bolland is easy to do but flat out wrong.

Let's call a spade a spade -- poor decision making by the "top" D pairing makes for an easy Canucks goal. I'm blaming both of them, in particular Seabrook. He had his "man" covered like glue (that man being the invisible ghost just off Crawford's left post . . . didn't you all see that with your 3D glasses? Seabs was draped all over ghost man and made sure he wouldn't score).

There was no reason for Seabrook to be picking his nose, watching Keith play patty-cake with the Sedin sister behind the net.
