3 points for regulation or OT win; 2 points for SO win; 1 point for SO loss.

A few teams would change places but the Devils would still get in the playoffs with their 9 SO wins. Of course teams have played different amounts of games at this point so things could change from this. Up to today:

So it looks like no matter the system there wouldn't be a lot of change then. Of course the teams that miss the playoffs might beg to differ, like Winnipeg in your example, but overall not as much of a difference as I would have thought.

i think it clearly shows who the best teams are, at least. while all the mediocre teams are still bunched from 4-12.

edit: 8 points up on the pens with a game in hand is a hell of a lot different than two points.
