I actually wouldn't mind this. He's a player I hate to watch us play against for the reason you state. - Flyskippy
not a bad backup plan, but i do think a bigger, physical presence is necessary. |

I was cheering like mad when he stopped the second shootout shot.. i said.. can we actually win this? Then the team forgot to score. weee.
Our futility in these shootouts WILL cost us at some point. I am not a fan of them, but it's the game and we have to at least break even with the extra point. - Hextall271
it shouldn't have come to a shootout. After losing two games to the Jets already this year, I was disappointed with the effort. The Flyers only played about 15 good minutes in the game. That's not going to be good enough to beat anyone.

He's a UFA after this season, have to think he would be available. Not sure what the price would be, but I think he would be a sound addition. - PLindbergh31
He's basically all they have left from the Kovalchuk trade. He has much more intrinsic value to the Jets. I bet they're trying to lock him up. |

Allen and Gill are two players who come to mind fitting that description, I think Oduya is a better player than both of those guys. |

I wouldn't exactly call Wides a sniper with an avg shooting % of 9.3 over the course of his career in Philly. - Flyer_Nation71

bryz and jagr were the best flyers out there, agreed, but enough of these points being pissed away, especially on home ice, to lesser teams - especially those without some of their top players.
to go shotless through the first 14 minutes of the game?
thought that bourdon and gusty looked like rookies - both struggled a bit.
giroux needs to stop with the cute crap and simplify his game.
to not play with any real purpose or determination until 8 minutes left in the game?
jagr and giroux being put back together was a big part of the late push.
if the SO ever becomes part of the playoffs, the flyers are (frank)ed. - hammarby31
And Hartnell. Hartnell played with a lot of jam last night but it was wasted until the line was reunited. I don't get taking guys who've been off 6 days and already are likely to be off in their timing and shuffling all the lines so the whole bunch are discombobulated.
I'm also wondering at the shot selection in the shootout. They all tried to go 5-hole and shot right into the pads. How about giving Read a chance. He's shown he can pick a corner.

I blame the Chapman ford commercials with that video clip from the 70s of that fossil who says "If the Chapman emblem isn't on the back of your vehicle, you probably paid too much!
Get your dead ass off my TV screen and take your two K&A looking sons with you!!!

I was impressed with Oduya last night, guy has been historically a Flyers killer, I was at a game 4 years ago when he had 4 points against the Flyers and the Devils scored 6 PP goals. I wouldn't mind seeing the Flyers try and get him. - PLindbergh31
antropov is another one - and sure enough he assisted on the jets only goal. |

Overall, I thought they just didn't compete hard enough. They had some good zone time, but every shot from the point was getting blocked. |

Gill's numbers are hideous this year and scare me. Obviously the Habs are terrible, but I think big ol' Hal could be part of that problem. That being said, for a bag of peanuts, it'd be worth a roll of the dice, but I honestly don't know that he would give us anything better than Lilja has so far.
I'd be much more excited about adding Allen. And I think he's a more-effective player than Oduya. At the very least, I think Allen is a better fit for our needs. |

I thought starting Jagr elsewhere and easing him in was the prudent thing to do. |

It's uncanny and utterly predictable. Guys who couldn't score in a whorehouse with a fistful of hundreds routinely find the back of the net vs. the Flyers.
I bet a Devils fan a beer at the game that Poni boy would score, in between periods I was sipping a Heineken. |

i guess lava was trying to limit jagr's minutes, so he switched the lines- but it was patently obvious jagr had his skating legs from the get go, and to let that listless slop go on for 50 minutes is poor coaching, imo. switch it up, it's not working.
i had no problem with the SO choices. was surprised that giroux just shot the puck and didn't deke. looked like pavelec got his blocker on jagr - but i'm at the other end of the ice so i can't be sure. read would have been ok, too. |

I thought Laviolette waited too long to put Jagr back on the Giroux line. |

Yeah. I think Rutherford's asking prices are going to be ridiculous. I don't want to overpay for Allen. Gill might be worth a gamble, but he might not have anything left. |

I know. Better come to play Thursday night. Preds are playing great. They erased a 3 goal third period deficit last night and got two points. As did the Pens, and the Bruins erased a two goal third period deficit.
The one thing with the Flyers this year is once they are behind in the third period the game is basically over. Top of my head I can't recall many third period comebacks this year. |

they might have had one or two, but yeah that's it. and lately games they've been tied or winning after 2 seem to be slipping through their fingers. |

They have also given up a bunch of 3 period leads.. some they managed to win.. but a few they didnt... |
