I feel terrible for the guy, I think he's just saying whatever he can at this point. He looks like a genuinely good guy, this whole experience might turn him into a wienerhead though

Can still trade it at the draft
- Symba007

I'm banking on the fact that we have a GM who partially knows what he's doing by that point.

I liked the suggestion of Nill out of Detroit but some of the suggestions out there are laughable.

That's the problem. We have no clue. His limited experience seems like it was pretty disastrous. On the other hand that franchise was a mess with or without him.

Would be great, lots of people say he'll never leave detroit though, whether it's for a higher position or not.

agreed, he would be my pick also....with someone like Damphouse as assistant GM to handle the French media portion and learn the job. I like the way he sees how the team should be.

If Molson wanted to get rid of PG, it should have been done at the same time as Martin was let go IMO. I don't think that the Goat is going anywhere.

The only reason I like the idea of McGuire is because he knows hockey at the younger levels. It's time this franchise built a sustainable team, and I think McGuire is someone who would be good in that regard. They'd need to bring a great cap-wise assistant for it to really work though IMO.

I am just saying that it wouldn't necessarily be terrible if he got the job. Could be because of what this management team has assembled and tried to pass off as a team worthy of playoff aspirations.

Trying to replace a GM mid-season isn't easy, especially when you're a tool like Molson. I feel like Molson is so in over his head right now that nothing will be done until the dust has settled and the season is over. They really need to let someone else take over as President if you ask me.

Mr. Ilitch has stood in their way before.

From what I've read in the past, he's more of a co-GM than assistant. He makes a lot of player personnel decisions.

"Pierre McGuire has his detractors. For them, it's not about hockey knowledge. It can't possibly be. It's personal. Or it's based on Pierre's personality."

So Melnick admits PM has a nasty personality

I don't think it's that easy during the season, especially when you need to find someone bilingual. Teams wouldn't let AGMs leave mid season. I'll bet anything he won't be back.
