How didn't the fans suffer? Didn't have pro hockey for a year and the prices for everything have gone up.

To me the answer is simple. The owners already have there cap and the players are still making buckets of money. Just resign the same agreement.

That won't happen.
The owners are going to want non-guaranteed contracts and the players would give that up without a huge fight.
