Patrick Roy was fined $5,000 by the QMJHL for suggesting that commissioner Gilles Courteau rushed Mikhail Grigorenko back from an ankle injury so that he could play in the CHL Top Prospects Game.
"I find it extremely unfortunate that we seem to want to promote the league's image instead of protecting the players," Roy said. He went onto imply that Courteau put his ambitions of becoming the commissioner of the Canadian Hockey League ahead of Grigorenko's best interests. Grigorenko has a legitimate shot of being the first pick overall in the 2012 NHL entry draft, although Nail Yakupov appears to be the more likely choice. Meanwhile, Roy has already been fined three times this season. Roy might be a candidate to become the Montreal Canadiens head coach when they re-examine their situation in the off-season.
