Well...kind of took them until this year from being massive failures with multiple busts.

They got rid of Erik Johnson the biggest one.

Not easy when you play CHI and DET 6 times a year...

It's kind of funny that Shattenkirk right now is better than him and they also got Stewart despite his suckage.

Blues gave up a 1st overall player and a 1st round pick and still won the deal. How is that possible?

I think you should watch COL more often. Good deal for both teams IMO.
Stewart is available as per Mathias Brunet.

I'm not so sure. Patching and repatching didn't work. People would understand it I think. If it's for 2 years (counting this one), not 6 or 7 like TOR and EDM.

Look at the great teams (CHI-BOS-VAN-DET...), they don't really have bad contracts. Habs have at least 4. They can't go forward until they clean that mess.

So once they unload the caca, if a UFA is available, but not just any UFA, the one you really want, you go for it. But I could see them wait a year or 2 to sign one, till the right one comes along.

How many years do you think it will be before the Habs are better than a team battling for 8th at best?

I think it is more than 1 year after this one.

They would have to make major changes by trading a bunch of high salary, sign someone like Suter this summer, markov comes back healthy, they sign/trade for a big center and the lottery pick has an impact making the team. Yup...not happening

It could very well take a few more years. But if they get 2 lottery picks, one this year and one next year, and replace Gomez-Gionta by REAL 1st line players, this could be quick.

And let be honest, yes they suck, but they're not a 14th place team. Every thing that could go bad did go bad this year. Really.

Not with PG that's for sure.
But if they had a GM like Holmgren or Burke, this could very well happen...

C'est comme quand j'compte la joke de la femme noire qui sort les vidanges. Une fois sur 2, ça sort:

-Hey, ça prend combien de temps à une femme noire pour accoucher?

-Euh...9 mois?

Columbus 1st pick for Plek and a prospect. Habs could insure they get 1 and 2

Not even Habs would have to throw in their 1st.
