What they say to the media is irrelevant really...Gainey was also very proud of Carbonneau.

I've said it before. Geoff Molson is proud of his beer...

With the reaction the coach has, he probably gets beaten up by his wife as well.
- stinger67

agree. still cant understand the non-reaction of the coach. weird. it's like a total mise en scène.

Firing PG during the season was not necessarly the answer. Regardless of past examples hiring a GM mid-season is very difficult.
- habby

True, but it just wouldn't make sense to allow PG to make the deadline moves with the intentions of firing him before the draft. I think they'll either can him in the next week or sadly keep him for a while.

I disagree. Even during normal times GMs typically need approval before any move. I don't see them canning him now and i don't see him keeping his job if they when they miss the playoffs

Malcom will go out in the first round (late) and Habs will trade their first rounder for Hemsky in a couple weeks

Depending on his contract they could push him aside to be an advisor to the new GM.

There's no way that's the one EK gets right.

Fair enough, but does he still sell players at the deadline? I wouldn't want PG trying to fix anything to be honest.

I'm fine with his last 2 moves. As long as he's selling or trading for pieces that makes sense for the future i don't care.

I PRAY the Habs don't go on a winning streak before the trade deadline....They have to stay at the bottom of the conference to make sure habs are sellers...and not buyers.

Looking into a possible Carolina/Vancouver deal. The Canucks are obviously building to get tougher in the playoffs.
