Living in a place you hate, far away from the people you love?
For money? (frank) that poop.

He might not hate it...never know until he gives it a go. He can always go back...despite the silly cliches, its possible. It might be worse not doing it and looking back wishing you did.

I'm interested to see just how badly they'll mangle this deadline and offseason. Will it be a Philly like retool or one of those other (frank)ing endless cycle like team rebuilds that never ends...ever.

(frank) this poop.

Their best bargaining chip is Plekanec. I like him, but they need to get bigger at center.

If he's the price to pay, so be it.

Edit: oh, and rebuild that (frank)ing defense already. it's pathetic.

So.. what? 10-15 #1 Cs in the league and we give up a legit #2 and a 1st? and the team that has that #1 says right on Pleks and Grigorenko lets do it and then the salary of that #1 (frank)s our D even further and on and on and on and on. Pete, we're looking at min 3-4 years. Gainey has totally (frank)ed the expectations of this team with quick fixes... besides what #1 C is going to waive to come to this mess?

I understand your point i do. My point was in the off season most of the dudes on this thread were against the habs getting Jagr, he was washed up and wouldnt make the habs top 6. Pretty sure we can put that little theory to bed now. And you can say its all Giroux if you want, but it isnt. He is simply playing well.

All I'm saying is, Jagr is a "nice to have" piece of the puzzle for a contender.

In Montreal, he'd look as disinterested as the rest of the team. And I doubt they'd be in a better position because of him.

My + mean't, another player or a pick, I would not give a 1st rounder,

Edit: the fans in MTL will not tolerate a 3-4 year rebuild. We will just have to get used to the patches in the roof.

Nah...most fans have come to realize this teams needs to take a couple steps back before they can move forward. The Habs need that lottery pick, cant trade it.

The big question is.....would you move Plek and let's say Tinordi for Carter? In no way would the Habs include that 1st rounder. Carter has a cap hit of 5.25M and is signed for 10 YEARS. Carter is not as good defensively but he is a big center that can also score. He would need a good winger that can also set up plays.

The rest will be moved for either prospects or picks. This retooling will take a 2-3 years if they can sign a #1 D and a couple solid guys that will chip in until Beaulieu, Ellis and the others (if any) are ready.

Can we get another center? Carter in Montreal is a recipe for disaster.

Not much on the market that is really for sale right now (that we know). He doesn't have a NTC yet, it only kicks in the summer. Plek is signed for 5 more years and for Columbus, that's important, they don't attract UFA's easily, look at how much they had to pay Wiz to get him. A guy like Grabovski would leave in the summer anyway, too risky for them, he loses some of his value for Columbus.

I would rather a better all around center but Carter's cap hit is decent if he can stay healthy.

The fans don't have a choice. Because other teams aren't going to give up a valuable piece for what the Habs have to offer unless it involves their soon to be top 5 pick. Saying MTL fans won't stand for it will not change the reality. The Ducks should take it up the hoop because Habs Fans demand a quick fix to cheer for.

I know you weren't saying + a 1st but the fact is if we give up guys like Subban or Pleks we create holes and the more we have to add to the player we trade, makes the holes bigger and the fact is that to get a top line C it will be Pleks + a Leblanc or a Tinordi or Gallagher or Beaulieu +

carter's problems have been mostly flukey foot breaks, it isn't like he has a bum knee or back

If he were to come to MTL, with the depth and talent they have minus what it would take to get him, he would think of those injury days as the glory days.

Has anyone heard of Radek Faksa, seems to be our pick in a few mock drafts.
I know L8 more than likely but QFIDGAF

- braidan

Not a favourite of mine. He was average at the WJC but was apparently injured. Big body, skills, but not worth a top10 pick IMO.

Good article on Faksa.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=615482

In fact, Spott sees a lot of similarities between Faksa and Gabriel Landeskog, who spent two seasons in Kitchener before being drafted by the Colorado Avalanche with the second pick of the 2011 draft.

"I think the transition that Radek has made has been a little bit easier for him," Spott said. "I think, like Gabriel, he plays a North American style of game. He's physical and willing to go into the dirty areas to score. Defensively, he has a real good battle level, so I think that's why he's been able to make this transition rather smoothly."

Faksa, winner of the showdown breakaway challenge at the recent CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game skills competition, compares his style of play to Martin Havlat.

"I like to protect the puck and play hard," he said.

If Grigorenko isn't available, sign me up.

Rather have Galchenyuk.

Oh and apparently the habs think Grigorenko is a 'risky' player to take with a high pick.
