That and the fact that I wouldn't do it for Suter because he doesn't have the offensive upside. If we're giving up Subban as well as the offense we'd almost be sure to get from our 1st, it has to be Weber if you ask me.

More important things at stake here, Gauthier has 27 days left to screw us for the next 5+ years.

He'd have to agree to a contract also, not sure I would give up that much for Suter though.

What if it Suter?
- habby

Beign facetious, obviously if they could get Weber for that the Habs would be set forever on D. Weber will always be better than Subban and anchor that D.

PK and a 1st for Shea Weber, and if they gotta' throw in Vebaire, get it done.

I'm not even considering that. Even signed I think PK and a 1st is too much for Suter.

I trade for Weber in a second. Less than that.

I might do it for PK and a 2nd. Although PK's all we've got at the moment for backend offense, even if he is sucking it up.

I don't think it would be crazy not to do it, We could be in 27th or 28th if we lose even 2 out of the next 3.

Edit: I really won't be surprised if we're picking 2nd overall this summer. Ducks always play a good second half, and lets be honest, they're a far better team than the Habs lol.

Love Weber. One of the best if not the best.
But this team needs to be built with the draft and young kids. If you trade your best young dman (when is the last time Habs had a guy like PK? Chelios?) and a lottery pick (again, when was the last time? Wickeneiser?), you're better short term, but you lose long term IMO.

Pacioretty, (Desharnais), Cole - Desharnais playing well - but need to upgrade
Bourque, Plekanec, _______ - need top 6 winger and top 6 centre
Kostitsyn, Eller, Leblanc / Gionta - Gionta could go for right price, if there is a taker
_______, ________, White -get some role players - Gaustad type players for 4 line
extra - Blunden

Players to move get rid of:
Gomez (anywhere - bury in minors if save cap space), Gionta if there is a taker, will free up more cap space - if not could fit on 3rd line with Eller and Kostitsyn, Moen is valuable at this deadline so expandable for descent return, Darche - bye, Nikolenin, bye

2 top 6 forwards plus some role / sand paper depth type players on 4th line.

Suter? PK and this years pick? Weber no question, but Suter, considering what he'll cost? I'm not saying no, but I'm not sure he's dominant outside of that system.

Markov, _______ - hard to say this as he may never play but committed now, top 2 D man to go with him.
Gorges , Subban
Emelin, _______

Players expendable:
Gill - again has value now so get what you can, Campoli, Weber / Diaz - one can go and one can stay to be 7th D.

Needs - a top 2 D man, and 5th/6th guy dependable but has grit and toughness.

Might be true.

The way I see it.... he's a proven player where as PK has "potential".

If all or a even a few of these stories about his attitude are correct... then I don't care about potential... one less distraction to deal with.

Suter will be a pilar on D for years to come. Habs need one of those.

I don't disagree necessarly, but Weber is a pretty sure thing and young. I agree about Chelios, but the Wickeneiser thing kinda goes against your point.

This years 1st is the teams best shot at a franchise player, I wouldn't give it up for anything but an already established one. They'd have to be in their 20's at that.
