got to hand it to the leafs.... Other than about 10 minutes, they played two excellent defensive games against the pens.

Well, we were kind of due to lose. Some goalposts and a called-back goal, and those PPs against, arriving at 3:30am still outshot and got some good chances. Happy with the effort there, and happy that Johnson played so good under the circumstances. Hopefully they get a W against Boston

pens had the chances, just couldnt get it in. bunch of posts as well tonight. its these one goal games where i think staal is at his best and missed the most. when he is back, i really hope they stick cooke and kennedy with him, and keep sulli/jefferey/dupuis together.

I'm with Deadstar, what Michalek did on his one penalty was interference, it should be called. The problem is there are other more egregious acts of interference that go uncalled it seems every game.

Consistency is the name of the game, but rarely can you find it within a single game. Let alone game to game.

It was definitely interference and I think it was a good penalty to take. He was kind of flat footed and about to get smoked. Regardless of that 0 goals doesn't win any games. Poor johnny finally has a solid start and the team poops the bed.

It's a tough one. They played much better but lost. I like our chances if we only allow 1 goal/game moving forward.

Yes it was a completely different game then the night before. Toronto has very good team speed. Good games to watch. Like to see us beat Boston Saturday our confidence would be very high.

Or Asham is going to be out a while.

Either way...if a forward is going to be scratched every night when/if they all get healthy, this at least is a better option than MacIntyre.

**Edit: Rossi hinted Staal is 3 or 4 weeks away

So is there any substance to this? I find it hard to believe that it will be another 3-4 weeks. Could they really have been that far off with the 4-6 week initial diagnosis?

He just went on the ice a day or two ago for the first time. Maybe that didn't go so well.

Interesting article on TIOPS. Says shero is looking for a big forward to make them tougher to play against. Says not necessary looking for more offense or a top 6 forward.

Names mentioned are Moen and Gaustad. Also interest in D. Moore though he's not that big.

Ha, thats a good one. Gaustad has a nice facade of playing tough but when the chips are down and his goalie is run, it takes two weeks of media/fans blasting him and his team for him to man up.

That's probably why. He just returned to the ice. Undoubtedly needs to round into shape. Was it a slight tear or just a severe sprain?

And hopefully Moen and not Gaustad, given the choices.

Center depth with 87 and 11 out for the huge price tag of 190k. There is literally no risk to the move, so even if it does not pan out, who cares.

Also his most success at the NHL level came with Steve Sullivan as a linemate. Shero has familiarity with him.

Anyone else worried about getting completely bullied on Saturday? Without Asham in the line up we don't have much in the way of toughness. Could always bring up Stevie but he is useless. Teams don't come much tougher than Boston. Malkin and Neal are probably going to take a lot of abuse.
