What I've gleaned on O'Reilly is that Shero is familiar with the 25 year-old from Nashville. He's a playmaker who's had success in the minors but not the NHL. He's dealt with injuries nearly every year of his pro career. He was traded from Nashville to Phoenix for a 4th round pick in July, 2011. I thought perhaps he was acquired for his faceoff ability but I checked and he's won fewer than 50 percent of his draws in each of his NHL seasons. Let's hope Shero knows something we don't. - the-mitch-wilsons
Well if nothing else, this is as little risk as there can be with an NHL move. |

Yeah I'm not excited about it but it really is a who cares kind of move unless he does something spectacular. |

If we are talking about LTIR, you get cap space while that player is on LTIR. When that player comes back to the active roster, that cap space vanishes. It is more of a mirage than actual cap space to use. The only time it would be useful is if that player was ruled out for the entire regular season. With no potential of coming back. - Gunner Staal
Thanks! That's what I thought but I always hear people say put him on LTIR and make space.
Why isn't tonight's game on NHL net? That channel needs to step it up. |

O'Reilly is young at 25, he can still be molded and he's a center. It's a depth thing I believe. |

Most of those people believe he will be out for the rest of the season. If that was the case then LTIR would be a smart move. However, if we LTIR him and go get someone that takes up that "free" cap space and Crosby is able to come back then we have to find a way to open up the cap to fit Crosby back under it. Unless of course he is out and comes back in the playoffs when there is no cap. |

Supposedly played some with Sullivan too. Last year put up 18 points in 38 games, so it does show he can put up the numbers, if he can stay healthy and gel.
Edit: Actually looks like he played pretty heavily with Sullivan. Looks like most of his points came playing with Sullivan. Even some Power Play time, so I guess he has some decent offensive upside. |

We all know who should have won last night.... Can't believe that Goal was called back, what an aweful mistake.

No word yet. I would think Johny gets the start in net for us. That was a great game we deserved to lose but I'm happy we won. That was a game where I was happy they have a loser's point. Good luck tonight I hope it's as exciting. |

I missed the first few minutes of the game so I did not see the disallowed goal. From the sounds of it, they should have counted it. But that isn't the major reason the Leafs lost. You can't have a collapse like that in the last half of the 3rd period and still say you should have won the game. |

Should've won a blowing a 3 goal third period lead are two very different things.
It was a bad call, but you'll find no sympathy from the fans of a team who has had something like 15 goals called back. If the Leafs and their fans are blaming that first period call for the loss then they need to look much deeper into their team and it's issues. |

It was a horrible call and I would be furious if it was the other way but you did have a 4-1 lead after that sooooooo.
Should be a good one tonight!! |

No one here will disagree. At the same time, with 11 minutes to go the Leafs still led by 3 goals. |

Ok, it was a cheap win but..........it shows that the team, when it wants to can come back in a strong fashion. It will help build confidence in situations when down again. Crazy game. Hope for a more consistent effort tonight. |

We all agree on that call being as bad as it gets. But you still had a 3 goal lead with 10 minutes left in the third period. That call did not lose you the game. |

That was the 7th shootout win of the year for the Pens. They need to rack up some regulation or OT wins. Philly only has 1 and the Rags have 2. |

I don't care how they win. As long as they win. When they get 87 and 11 back, the regulation wins will be more regular. |

Shows how far the Leafs really have to go. A teams with playoff makeup doesn't let that crap happen. No excuses for blowing a 4-1 lead. Leaf fans really shouldn't complain about reffing, since you have had 1 or 2 penalties called against you in the last 3 games. Reffing sucked both ways last night, a missed hook on Malkin happened right in the open before a Toronto goal, Grab's 2nd I believe.
I'm on the record if Johnson is in net tonight, it will probably be ugly. The Leafs always play the Pens more than tough for some reason, their speed kills us. Let MAF play and give Johnson a game this weekend. |
