"The two best soccer-skilled Penguins I can think of are Evgeni Malkin and Martin Straka. Their feet are almost as dangerous as their sticks."

Thanks! That was a great display. Funny how Ruutu was a scratchy player yet had such skill with his feet and shootout ability.

Shows how far the Leafs really have to go. A teams with playoff makeup doesn't let that crap happen. No excuses for blowing a 4-1 lead. Leaf fans really shouldn't complain about reffing, since you have had 1 or 2 penalties called against you in the last 3 games. Reffing sucked both ways last night, a missed hook on Malkin happened right in the open before a Toronto goal, Grab's 2nd I believe.
I'm on the record if Johnson is in net tonight, it will probably be ugly. The Leafs always play the Pens more than tough for some reason, their speed kills us. Let MAF play and give Johnson a game this weekend. - ryman1566
I never said the leafs were a playoff team or anything about the standings, or one team being better than the other.
I was talking about the game, and yes I know a good mature team doesn't blow a 3 goal lead. It just seemed like a massive hill of a a game Leafs starting at the Peak and finishing at the bottom lol. |

Buddy of mine from the Coyotes had this to say about O'Reilly:
O'Reilly was here this year good player but he fell out of Tippett's graces and was put on waivers when we picked up Brule. He should help the pens. Def a good 3 rd line guy. |

I like the Cal O'Reilly move. He was always pretty good for Windsor, but he is not very aggressive. Makes me think they may play him higher up in the line-up to try to get some of the second/third line wingers scoring. Don't know about recently, but in the OHL he was always a pass first, shoot second player. Good passer, but he kind of did the Sully thing where he would always pass and d-men would catch on.
Having just checked, it looks like he put up some decent numbers at the AHL level too, so I say its no risk and worth a shot |

Makes you wonder who is on the way out when Staal come back into the line up. And compounds it more when/if Sid returns.
Trade soon??
Hopefully this ends any call ups for Jason Williams! |

Good way to put it. They certainly finished at the bottom, but that should make for a good game tonight. They will no doubt be testy after their inability to close it out last night. |

Or Asham is going to be out a while.
Either way...if a forward is going to be scratched every night when/if they all get healthy, this at least is a better option than MacIntyre.
**Edit: Rossi hinted Staal is 3 or 4 weeks away |

I'm guessing O'Reilly gets an honest look here... Shero knows him, there's the Sullivan connection, and not sure that they waste their time signing him if they think he can't contribute somewhat.
Interesting to try to figure out... McDonald is going down I'm sure, but when Asham, Staal and eventually Crosby come back, an already crowded group of forwards gets more crowded.
Maybe insurance for a future trade, but adding cheap depth to the roster is never a bad thing. |

Curious why Ray Whitney isn't being mentioned to the Pens anywhere. Seems like we were hot for him 2 years ago and now he may be available and we aren't mentioned. Any thoughts on how he would fit in? |

If we didnt already have Steve Sullivan I would say that would be on the table, but at this point those two are really similar. |

Yeah but Whitney does it better.
I shouldn't say that after the game Sulli had last night. |

For twice as much money. Whitney is not the kind of player this team needs. Don't get me wrong, he's got skills. This team just needs a bit of grit upfront. |

Oh what we get 3 goals from guys not named Malkin or Neal and we don't need secondary scoring anymore? |

Not implying that.
When Staal comes back, along with Crosby, secondary scoring should improve because guys will be playing the role they were intended to. Whitney would be a great addition, but on a team that isn't overly physical already I'm not convinced he's the missing piece. |

The guy cost nothing and you can drop him as soon as your healthy. I just hope this wasn't the move that was going to make the Pens tougher to play against. |
