Halak single handedly beat the #1 seeded Capitals and then the defending Cup champion Penguins.

Halak and Miller are more similar than you think.

Single handedly...

2010 Playoffs..
Game 1 - WSH 2 - Montreal 3
Game 2 - WSH 6 - Montreal 5
Game 3 - WSH 5 - Montreal 1
Game 4 - WSH 6 - Montreal 3
Game 5 - WSH 1 - Montreal 2
Game 6 - WSH 1 - Montreal 4
Game 7 - WSH 1 - Montreal 2

He did play pretty darn well in games 5, 6, and 7... I will give you that..
Games 2, 3, and 4... no so much.. (or did Carey start those?)

I'm putting into context the quality of teams Halak defeated, not rubbing it in. It is part of my argument, not some kind of lame bragging.

No, really. Montreal doesn't get close without his performance.

Besides, how many goals does and assists does Miller have in the postseason? Not a winning argument.

Miller won two games against Philly 1-0 last year in the playoffs..
Miller against Boston had only 1 goal in two games in 2010 also

If you didnt watch both series its going to be hard to put it into context for you. Washington was the Cup favorite that year with a blazing offense. Lets just say the scoring chances for Washington were similar in every single game, games 5-7 were a clinic, Patrick Royesque.

This.

Gill and Gorges also found out how to stop Ovechkin. Just an amazing series.

But drawing equivalencies between the two doesn't support your original argument that Halak wasn't a huge piece of Montreal.

Gill was fantastic, it was really bittersweet to see him shut down Sid and Malkin. I kinda hope the Pens make a run at him this deadline. Would be great to have in our bottom pairing (obviously).

I was drawing this in the sand because you asked what had Miller done in the playoffs..

We can agree to disagree.. but I firmly believe that what Miller is to Buffalo over the last what 10 seasons.. is far far more and larger of importance than what Halak was for Montreal in his few seasons there

I hate the Habs, but I really was rooting for them to win the Cup that year. They had no business beating Washington and Pittsburgh.

I didn't ask, I know what Miller did. I pointed out and reinforced that you can say Halak was, at the time he was traded, as big a deal for Montreal as Miller is supposed to be for us. You can say "oh, for one or two seasons" if you want, but Miller's overall resume would also include one or two seasons worth of brilliance with the rest of the time, which is more on the lines of decent to mediocre.

but the Bruins weren't a force like Washington.

You really had to watch the games to understand what we're trying to say

The Flyers series last season was more impressive, IMO.

I was thinking that would be a good pickup for Pitt at the deadline.
Probably won't cost much either which is a bonus.

Loved when he scored in OT!

Usually one of the most dangerous players for Buffalo. His line was really good last night so hopefully they keep it going.

Hawerchuk's over the net goal in Detroit might be my favorite.

I dont know, Crosby still hasn't been ruled out for the year so his LTIR cap space doesn't really help. Not really sure what they need to do other than get 87 and 11 back in the lineup.

Very impressive, but lacked the drama.
