PLEASE explain that stat.....
- LetsGoIsles

John Tavares has had a hand in 62.9 percent of the Islanders' goals (22 points on 35 goals). Either scoring or on the Assist. Cant be successful Team having someone carry you like that. He has dont more than his part.

Bailey, Grabs, Nielsen, Nino have to pick up some slack.

Was the Giroux even in that group last year? Tavares is heading to NHL ELITE status. How is the 10MM dollar man Erhoff, working out for you?
- Spartiarti

Tavares is heading for that status this year as is Giroux ...both players will be battling for the Hart for many years to come

Agree. Giroux is great player. The sabre fan was trying to say Tavares was not going to be top 5 player in NHL.

Philly fans few weeks ago got see first hand that was not true.

the 2 words "great" and "wishart" CAN be in the same sentence when the word "trade" is included.....dont get me wrong. wishart isnt great....the trade was great.

its a trade id do all over again...he plays soft right now at 23...but roloson is a 42 year old goalie on his way out....think about it...the islanders got a monsterous (granted not very physical...(YET)) 23 year old defenseman for a 42 year old goalie. last year roloson was on a team that was out of the playoff race by the deadline and the organization has a few goalie prospects (& RDP) and there was just about zero % chance he was going to sign once the year was over.....what else were you expecting? if garth waiting to pull the trigger on the deal, we would have had another comeau situation...THAT would be a waste.

yes, "great" "trade"

Bailey is crab, Grabner is doing nothing this year and so is Nielsen.

It's hard for Nino to pick up the slack when he's on the fourth line every game

I think so to. Wishart still has potential. Roloson has 7W 11L 0.882Save% and 3.65GAA this year and goaltending is the biggest reason why tampa is only 1pt ahead of us in standing. you think if if Isles had a Lecavelier, St Louis, Stamkos Or Malone on our team we would be where we are?

GREAT TRADE INDEED. Something for Nothing. Roloson wont get better, He is done.

tavaras is great, i wasnt trying to troll or anything

but i believe malkin is the best player when crosby is out
stamkos is on pace for 50
weber is the best dman (and the list said players)
giroux//tavaras is pretty even but id have to go with giroux due to line mates
sedins are always tops in points
datsyuk

tavaras is def top 15 if not top 10

Good trade? Maybe. You're missing my point. I never was against trading Roli. I just don't understand how you can say it was a great trade, when You're just going by how tall the guy is
Other then that he has not done one thing to say it was a great trade. is the possibility there to be a great trade? Yeah i guess but the jury is still out is all I'm saying

I hear what you're saying and I say in a couple of years he will be in the top 3 or so. Maybe I should have said top 5. He is only 21 yrs old and you surround him with the players that these other guys have and its a done deal

malkin, crosby, stamkos, giroux, sedins, weber............nope sorry
- nocupslugs

Crosby would be number 1 though presently he's played a handful of games over two years so right now he can't be included in that conversation.
Stamkos is a sniper, pure and simple, but he isn't close to Tavares in the playmaking category. Tavares has a quality that only Malkin and Crosby can equal in the game right now. It's that same quality that Lemieux and Gretzky had, where everything slows down for them and they seemingly have eyes in the back of their head. Right now (over the course of this season), I'd go as far as to say that JT is the best playmaker in the NHL. Giroux is fantastic but is surrounded by some pretty good players.
Personally, I'd say Malkin, Tavares, Stamkos, Sedin...
The only thing right now that seperates Malkin from Tavares is size.

The trade of Wishart for Roli was not good or great. It was okay. The Isles moved a guy who wasn't coming back anyway for a d-man that Tampa gave up on. Wishart hasn't done anything to warrant anyone saying he's going to be great or even above-average. Like you said, he's tall. THat's about it. He's a gentle giant. He hits nobody and has no mean streak. Therefore, his size is really irrelevant.

In regards to Tavares being considered part of the elite... imagine (and not to offend Isles fans) but imagine if Tampa won the draft lottery and got the 1st pick (or traded up to 1) rather than the second and picked Tavares. Tavares and Stamkos on the same line (like in the WJC for Canada) would be one of the youngest and most dominant duos the league has seen in some time and anyone on the fence about how good Tavares really is wouldn't say a peep. I could be the 3rd guy on the line and we'd produce. Well, maybe not me, but my 12 year old nephew for sure!

I agree, if isles fall out of making playoffs. Trade Moulson. sure he a 30 goal scorer. But Zach Parise on Tavares wing equals 40 Goals.
- Spartiarti

so you would trade moulsons 30 goals and keep baileys few and far between scoring...MAN YOUR SWEET ON THE GUY ...

If your talking about head to head Player comparison then you CAN NOT INCLUDE line mates into the equation! If that were the case. How do you think Giroux would perform on the Islander's playing with KO or Grabner as his linemates?

That being said. Then by your philosophy the edge should go to JT because Giroux plays with a much more talented and experienced team.

JT's play and points speak for themselves. The guy his on the Cusp of being an elite NHL player. There are only a few of them in the NHL.

Regardless of what other fans like, say or want. JT is a Rising Star in this league and will exceed original expectations.
