Your rite. I should have used lesser known Baseball players but I dont really follow the sport anymore so those two came immediately to mind.
I knew as I was writing their names that I'd get feed back. I just didnt care.
I'm sure you get my point.
But had I compared Bixll's example of his afternoon spent with Sidney Crosby against Arod and Albert I'm sure it would have fit better then Smith. Who btw is the only NHL figure who actually frequents "little ole Us" here in SC. Thats why I referred to him - SCLI
But even that.. Sid wasnt just hanging out with the common folk.. he was being waited on, he was if i remember correctly... fitting those massive legs of his into a new pair of suit pants.

wtf-- where is Spartiarti?? i spend days putting this one together.... - LetsGoIsles
sorry lets go isles. i was on my way home from work. i just read it. I dont agree with assessing total points. But you are right the fact that Moulson points and PA points were high means we only getting most of our points from first line. I also want to point out that as well PA is playing, he still getting most of his points with Tavares and not the line he currently on. That said, i love KO on top line. he compliments JT well. Moulson just sneaks in and gets the Goals but Im fine with that.
Tavares can bring us to the playoffs and make us go far, but guys are going to have to contribute and got hot. Calling Grabs Bailey, Nielsen and Nino.
great statistical work though. |

Was I reading that right? Tavares would be the 3rd line center on Vancouver? |

Technically he would be 4th line center since Hodgson is actually better. He just doesn't get the same minutes. I do not understand why so many people find it hard to believe the Isles actually have a great player again... |

Why all the hub-bub about Johnny T, he's not even one of the best players under the age of 25 in the league, let alone overall..... |

I wouldn't disagree with you that I thought that snow could have got more for Roloson, but you can only get what someone is willing to give you. Perhaps there was no interest in Roloson other than Tampa. Maybe no one else was offering a prospect, maybe the highest offer Snow had was a 6th round pick to weigh against Tampa's offer. We won't ever know, but if Comeau couldn't get anything at all, Wishart for a 40 year old goaltender who was a UFA at the end of the year still doesn't sound like a bad deal.
We could all want MORE in return, but unless someone's willing to give it to you, you either take what's offered or hold onto the player and that wouldn't have done the Isles any good at all.
If Snow trades a player under contract and gets a crap return I'll rip him for it, but if the guy is a UFA on a team not anywhere near the playoff picture, it makes good sense to move him for whatever you can get rather than holding onto him and losing him for nothing in the offseason. - Isles_since_6
If Wishart is all Snow could get for Roloson, then fine. It doesn't make it a bad trade. Just don't call it a "great" trade. Its not a "great" trade to move a #1 goaltender for a player that will probably never get a steady shift in the NHL. It was an okay trade and okay at best, since the return was nothing to get excited about.

The best part about that dumb article is not that he forgot Tavares, but he tried to defend it afterwards. If it were me, I would have just said "oh man, can't believe I forgot Tavares!" and left it at that. People can accept an honest mistake, if it was presented that way to them. Defending it makes him sound like a complete moron. |

He defended by coming up with a bunch of dumb, obscure stats that wouldn't matter one iota if a bunch of people were sitting around BSing about this sport.
If it's not clear that he makes his linemates better and that he doesn't get muscled off the puck anymore and that he's just a remarkable talent, I don't know what to say. And, like you said, for him to write another blog defending his reasoning was just about as bad a job at grasping for straws I've ever seen. Espn sucks for hockey, but this guy is going to lose his job over this. It's clear the guy has never held a hockey stick in his life.

I agree, I never called it a great trade, but let's face it, we didn't lose anything by trading roloson. He got hot for them last year but look at him this year. We didn't trade anything that would have warranted a better return |

Good morning looks like I missed a great convo in here yesterday. For what it is worth all those who think Bailey is some type of God then you are mistaken. The has little hockey knowledge. I dont know if he is lazy or just does not care. He never gives 100%. He shows signs that he can be great and then is like oh well. He needs to use his body and to do the little things to be successful.
As for JT, I dont care what anyone in the NHL thinks or anyone on here he is an elite player. He is the heart and soul of this team. He gets hurt I dont think we will win a game for the rest of the year. He is the only person we actually have that gives 10000% each game. That being said this guy could win MVP. Everyone else is just jealous they dont have JT and wish they did, but they are seeing him play on a "crappy" team and they say how horrible he is. If he was on there team they would say the same thing he is MVP material. Now lets hope he keeps it up |

Just because some of you dig cool stories and we're just chatting about Crosby, I’ll steal a Pierre Maguire story about Crosby. As Maguire tells it (he does a 20 minute segment every morning on our sports radio in Ottawa) but he was with the Penguins when they flew out west for Crosby’s first trip to the Western Canadian towns. For those that don’t know, Maguire and Pens GM Ray Shero are actually very good friends.
Anyways, enough about Maguire, when the plane landed in Calgary, it was very late and very cold outside and the Pens players were all going straight into the airport and to the hotel. There was, however, a very large group of fans who waited outside for the arrival of Sidney with signs of support for him. Maguire said that Crosby spent over two hours outside signing everything and in the end, not one fan who was there left without getting to meet and chat with Crosby. Maguire said he talked to Crosby about it and Sidney basically said that if those fans would wait there all night for him to show up, as late as it was and as cold as it was, how in the world could he not take the time to meet each and every one of them.

Great story. Nice to read stuff like that. Hopefully, he makes a full recovery soon and puts this concussion/neck s**t behind him for good. |

Hockey players are indeed the best. P.a. Parenteau had a beer the other night with a group of 5 of us at champions. Nice guy. The story with Crosby was great. Guys in other sports for the most part don't respect the fans the same way. |

The report is that it is more of his neck then the concussion problems. I will say without Crosby playing the Penguins is not as fun anymore. No one to yell at, no one to complain about every call |

I don't think the jury is still out. He's a depth guy/placeholder. He'll never be anything more than that. Unless he somehow decides to use his size and become, like, 2 or 3 times as physical as he is now, then maybe he can fit comfortably in a team's top 6 as a defensive defenseman. Until that happens, he's a back-up at the NHL level. - isles10289
how can you say "i dont think the jury is still out" and then follow it up with "unless....."?
the advantage of getting a prospect instead of a draft pick is that a pick will presumably take 2-4 years to develop; therefore wishart was already a few years into his development. like i said before he has intangibles that cant be taught IE his frame....NOW he needs to learn to utilize that body. point is, the jury IS still out if he is going to be legit or not. i thing jury isnt still out on is that had the trade not happened there wouldnt even be a discussion. |
