The National Hockey League is looking into a scoreboard error at the Staples Center on Wednesday night that gave the Los Angeles Kings a 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
"We're looking at it from all aspects," NHL executive vice-president Colin Campbell told TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun on Thursday. "We're sending two people out there. Is it possible for the clock to stop like that? We're going to look at everything."
Kings blueliner Drew Doughty scored the winning goal with less than a second to play in regulation to secure the win. But when the Blue Jackets looked at video after the game, they saw that the clock froze for about a second before the goal - meaning time should have expired.
Campbell also confirmed that regardless of the league's findings, the result of the game can't be changed. "No you can't," he told TSN. "Once the game is over, it's over."
Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson explained in his team blog on Thursday morning that the incident could have an 'enormous impact' on the standings.
"It's easy to say that this doesn't matter," he wrote. "We, the Blue Jackets, are in last place and it is likely not going to affect our place in the standings. However, in my opinion, this matters in many respects. It matters to our players, to our coaches, every person in our organization and our fans." |

Preds are 9-1 in their last 10. Of course the one loss was a 3-0 whitewashing at the hands of that stiff King Henrik.
I'm surprised Rinne isn't starting tonight, I thought maybe Nashville has a divisional game tomorrow night but they are off. They play St. Louis Saturday night.
Perhaps Trotz's thinking the Flyers are a .500 team at home, a good place for Lindback to get a start.
Lindback is 0-4 in his last 4 starts with an .818 save % - PLindbergh31
this is bad news. |

The Preds are playing well. This is a very good test for the Flyers tonight. Still think they get the job done and play inspired hockey tonight. |

Nah. Lindback will get sunburn on his neck from the red light being lit all night. |

They are. Rinne would have been a handful. I'm glad he isn't playing. |

Howson has to say that stuff, but he's grandstanding given where his team is right now. If it was almost any other team though......... It will/should definitely be reviewed. They interviewed Jim Hughson about it this morning and he said that while every goal is reviewed in the war room, they don't have the automatic power to overturn a goal. I'm thinking what better spot to have them over rule a decision if it's not this one. Plus, when I was watching the game I distinctly saw the goal line official WAVE OFF the goal. |

Wow. Sounds like a conspiracy. If the result of the game can't be changed, why are they even wasting time looking into it? |

i watched the video clip on tsn just now and you can clearly see the clock stick just ahead of 1 second...for how long it's tough to say. it still might have been legit anyway. that's the kind of thing you can just go...oh well, meh. can't let something like that stand if it's not correct. |

That may keep Columbus out of the playoffs. I wonder if Carter and Richards hit the Skybar after the game. |

because maybe shenanigans were at play, like in the pittsburgh tv crew goal situation from a couple of years ago. if that's the case, poop needs to be done about it. |

wouldnt it be awesome if somehow both the Jackets and Kings ended up battling for the 8th spot in the east and both ended up with (say) 98 points but the Kings won because they had one more win |

Columbus would need the rest of the teams on their schedule to forfeit to have a chance at the 8th spot. |

Of course he's injured. When isn't he. Not sure if he traveled with the team or not. He may have been rehabbing in Sea Isle City. |

The values aren't any where near being close in that deal. Giroux and Weber is pretty much a wash. And were getting 2 1st round picks and the rights to Suter also? - MJL
Oh, I thought he was saying the Flyers were giving up the picks... That really changes things... But still... People on this board dont have to be mean to other posters, whether they think the trades are stupid or not. I personally like discussing possible trades... Trying to estimate the value of players, and match them to needs of other teams... I'm sure other people do too... I like to discuss this kind of stuff with other people that do too, but what I dont like is when people are just down right rude to me, or to anyone else that comes in here with a legit question or opinion. We are here to discuss hockey and the flyers... and trade ideas falls in that relm. Please lets start respecting all posters that come in here and want to discuss hockey. You may not agree with thier opinion, but as long as its hockey related you should not be rude to them.
BTW MJL, this isn't directed at you as much as the whole board. Even though I don't agree with you a lot of the time, at least most of the time you respond to people's post with at least a expalination as to why you dont agree. |

your scenario is something the league cringes about. |
