If only you could have mentioned that Scott was out of the line-up, my day would have been made. Maybe we see an in-game trade. Hawks 6-2 pounding of the Oil tonight!

Would love to aquire Oduya or SOB. SOB is the mean d-man we need.

JJ do you think O'Brien can play top 4 minutes with Hammer?

No, and honestly very few of the guys on the list you would call top 4 guys. Oduya, Allen, a couple of others. The rest are going to be more 5-6 guys but who are going to bring some things lacking right now, size, shot blacking.

Whats the over-under on how many minutes Scott plays tonight? I am thinking 6:30 of wasted ice time.

I don't mind Scott as much as a 4th line W. Actually, I think he could help the team with some long-range artillery pounding defensemen in the playoffs.

I'd prefer Erskine. I'd imagine Clark would be a good fit as well. I could also see Gill (or Erskine) working in a rotation with O'Donnell in the #6 spot.

The deal that was almost done with Washington was:
Washington
Jeff Halpern – 825K – UFA after this season
Marcus Johansson – 900K – ufa in 2014
John Erskine – 1.5M – UFA in 2014
AHL Prospect

Hawks
Niklas Hjalmarsson – 3.5M UFA in 2014
Michael Frolik – 2.3M – UFA in 2015
Bryan Bickell – 542K – UFA in 2014

Id like to see this deal go down.

6 and a half minutes seems high. I'd put my money at 4 and a half minutes.

Much like the Rangers/Oilers trade of Tikkanen and weight back in the day!

As exciting as everyone is for the deadline, it could be a bunch of 5-6 d men and bottom six forwards on the move. I really hope Perry is not going to Van bc that might get them a cup ring.

First of all, though he may be big, there is NOTHING nasty about Hal Gill. He doesn't fit the mold of what the Hawks are looking for.

I think Sutton might be your best bet. I don't think the Caps are going to part with Erskine just yet.

One more name to throw out there....Johnny Boychuk from the Bruins. As a Bruins fan I love Boychuk's game and I think the Bruins could move him the way they did Mark Stuart last season to free up roster spots and money to make other moves. Maybe a little more of a longshot, but he would make a ton of sense for Chicago. Exactly what that team needs.

Sarich always seems to find another gear late in the season... if you're looking for a mean and nasty 5/6 guy, he's a great fit and always shows up big at the end of the year. He is definitely slowing down though and can't play nearly the same kind of minutes as Hannan.

I would think this deal makes the Hawks even less of a contender than before. This trade would make the Hawks even more vulnerable on the blueline. Not to say anything bad about Erskine. I'd love to see him here in Chicago at this point, but not at the cost of dealing Hjalmarsson.

No way the Caps can afford that deal, I think that cap space is a no go. They'd have to send someone big (Semin?) back.

PS, if you want Komisarek, he can be had for as little as a draft pick in my opinion; we have a Grabovski to resign

If Bickell AND Frolik are scratches tonight, doesn't that likely mean Scott is playing at forward tonight?

Washington can take on $30 milion in salary today, so the deal is conceivable. They would have cap room for the contracts that are not expiring for next season. However, it would hinder them from re-signing a player such as Semin come July 1st.
