lots of games to be played - wingz4life
A consoling wings fan.....must be dream'n
From Jesse Rogers post:
“It’s not about scoring,” Quenneville said. “It’s about checking. And winning games 2-1, 1-0, 3-2 games. That’s how you win in this league. That’s where the commitment is.”
Funny Quenneville says that because he hasn’t seen his team win like that but once all year back in November. And they have zero shutouts through 52 games.
thats the problem...they can't keep games close enough to win low scoring games...coach Q? who you crap'n! |

Q needs to go.
Kitchen needs to go.
Scott needs to go.
Bickell needs to go.
Brunette needs to go.
Crawford needs to go.
Bowman should go, but with the recent extension, he won't.
Replace those people with players and coaches who are willing and able to commit to a disciplined, tight system, and you'd be headed in the right direction. - Ogilthorpe2
Well Ogi...we're certainly on the same page.
The shine has come off this club fast, but I suspect sweeping change to the coaching staff would help this organization immensely.

Did you listen to the Score today? Kuc was hit twice with great craps!! I've lost respect for that guy the last several years.
He's getting as bad as Joe Cowley.

It seems that even some Redwing and Canuck fans assume the Hawks will be ok. Sure there are 30 games left, but they need to look at the damn stats.
The Blackhawks shouldn't scare anyone this year.
Just throw 30 shots at our net...at least 4 will find the back of it. |

Sure bad goals kill a team on any level of hockey.
But when you have a 2-0 lead on a young team and decide its a game of run and gun shinny and defence doesn't matter to anybody, crap like this happens. Especially when a sieve is in goal for the evening.
But the thing that irritated me the most was Renney was putting Gagner's line out there every second shift at the end and nobody laid a hand on the kid. They were willing to tolerate being embarassed and humiliated. All 20 guys and the 3 coaches. Very, very bad sign. - RickJ
Gagner was one point away from beating Gretzky's record. Why not go for it, not like u get an opportunity to do that evey game. |

I agree...this Hawk fan is not upset by the move. At that point even I was pulling for the guy.

Yeah I see what he's saying now. He's pissed the hawks didn't show any emotion and try and stop the kid. He's not blaming gagner and renney for going for it. I thought the oil were going to get hammered tonight! The pre game stuff showed the hawks all worked up about getting revenge! They dominated the first 20 then I don't know what happened. Softy by Hall discouraged them or what? |

The Hawks still have a core that has a winning mentality when it matters. Every team has a bogey team, check out Boston against Carolina. But I agree some added D and especially a G upgrade would go a long way towards making you solid contenders. |

So Quenneville says before the game it's not about revenge its about getting the points with a solid win..
And thats how the team responds..?
I don't have to say anything else. |

Couple quick points, as my rage has somewhat subsided from last night -
Crawford's time as the starter should be done this season. It's time for the team to ride Emery until he breaks, whether it follows their pre-season road map or not. That was the worst effort I've seen from a Chicago goalie since Huet.
I don't think that another 5-6 defenseman is going to solve all the blue-line woes. Let's face it folks, Nick Leddy is nothing if not suspect in his own end. The Whitney goal (where he did not even think about attempting to clear a screening forward) and on goal #6, where he failed to step up on on Gagner were just brutal to watch. I won't say these goals were entirely his fault, but he contributed heavily. - I'm sure I'll get a point for point breakdown form Savvy about how these goals weren't his fault, but please save it. His inability to contribute physically, and obvious lack of focus when things get gritty down low are going to hurt this team down the stretch.
I'm hoping for a minor miracle - that the Hawks are somehow able to get a second-pairing defenseman to relegate Leddy to the third pairing, where he belongs at this point of his career. |

This is were Stan has failed. Puck possession and speed was this teams identity and he picked up guys like Scott, O'D and Bruno. 3 guys that just can't keep up with that style of play. I said the same thing a few months ago this team lacks identity. We have our core that want to play run and gun and a bunch of passengers that are just trying to hold on for the ride. - tokked
All lat year - all summer - what's the mantra?
Need more sand, need more grit.
He got sand and grit.
May not have been the right players, but that's what he went looking for, and that's what he got. |

Where are all those Hawks fans pulling for Brian Campbell trade?
Trading Campbell was teh worst move StanB has done so far as Hawks GM. The D-core became a train wreck... we saw the signs when Campbell was out in the Cup run. Has he not been rushed back from shoulder injury, Hawks would have been ousted by Preds in R1.
Who cares about the $4.5M in cap space you freed up (Campbell less Montador) and you have now, when you cannot bring in a D-men who adequately would replace BC. In addition, you are paying someone $3.5M skating in Rockford.
Who looks better now? The All-Star Campbell and his $7.1M or D Keith and his $8M? Yes, Keith's cap hit is $5.5m because of few charity years when he is over 40. Over next 5 years, his average salary is $7.8M vs. Campbells $7.1M. Is he that much better? Not since signed that contract. |

I'm still here, and still think it was the right move. The proper follow-up moves have not been made, but that contract had to go, period.
And if you think Campbell would be putting up those kind of numbers in Chicago, I'd like to sample some of what you are smoking. |
