John

The deal that was almost done with Washington was:
Washington
Jeff Halpern – 825K – UFA after this season
Marcus Johansson – 900K – ufa in 2014
John Erskine – 1.5M – UFA in 2014
AHL Prospect

Hawks
Niklas Hjalmarsson – 3.5M UFA in 2014
Michael Frolik – 2.3M – UFA in 2015
Bryan Bickell – 542K – UFA in 2014

Id like to see this deal go down.

Johansson will be an RFA in 2014.

The Roxy has askes me to extend an open invitation to the Hawks newest Dman SOB and they would like to know if you and Mr Kane would require your usual tables.

Scott or Lepisto - and death is not an option.
- ksilvy58

I know Lepisto has played very few games this year, and that causes the masses to assume he is no good, but I have watched each and every game this year and can't understand why he hasn't played. I see nothing that puts SOD or Scott ahead of this guy.

Here is some food for thought for the Keith/Seabrook apologists. That is both Weber and Suter average more ice time than Keith and Seabrook.

Not saying this as to say we don't need more help on the blueline, just pointing out that we are not special regarding this problem.

Somehow you never hear about Nashville or players complaining about it.

David Jones and SOB are healthy scratches tonight also.
- hawksbuzz

A trade with Colorado involving those two with Bickell and Frolik could make some sense. Going into next season Colorado has only 8 players under contract (neither Jones, nor SOB). That would be a lot of offseason work for any GM.

Lets say we do acquire SOB. If we have enough left over to acquire another 6D, what would people think about dangling montador for a defensive forward or parts to acquire another defenseman? Not sure if we have enough parts to make that happen, but it might be worth the thought. Monty did seem alright the other night though.

The Hawks already have a very big, mean D-man. His name is John Scott. He plays just as well as Sutton and Erskine. Yes, he's not the best with the puck, but he makes up for it in other areas like clearing the net and intimidating his opponents. It just seems like he has that "enforcer" tag that influence the coach's decision making process. Dress him with a mobile D-man and he'll do just fine on the back end...

I would love to have him on the Kings.

if you have a bag of pucks to trade he is yours with only one stipulation and that is he must play in all games against the hawks and average 15 minutes of TOI

I mentioned him over a month ago...The Hawks could do a lot worse and he can play on the PK.

Gill would also be a good fit. He's great on the PK and would be a very good #6 d-man. Not to mention he brings leadership and plenty of playoff experience.

IMO, he would be a tremendous asset to the Hawks down the stretch.

You do realize that John Scott skates at the speed of continental drift, don't you?

You have 14 mil in cap space now and 22 mil by TDL according to cap geek. Both those players are UFAs so no long term commitment req'd.

VANTEL,

Cap space isn't the issue. The problem is most of our NHL roster isn't available and limited of our prospects are. Bowman has limited chips in this poker game. Multiple trades could very well not be possible.

Edit: Also, don't forget that it seems to be a sellers market and any decent player will be overpriced.

He is reliable and will give you toughness .Hey Chi fans know SOB His defense has improved but still makes a lot of mistakes. The big thing he is not the 1 or 2 guy he fits very nice at 5/6.

Steve Staos is not comparable to Cory Sarich. Cory Sarich can play big minutes, is very physical, and has tonnes of winning experience.

His down-fall is speed. Other than that, I see him extending with Calgary, with a massive pay-cut
