You have 14 mil in cap space now and 22 mil by TDL according to cap geek. Both those players are UFAs so no long term commitment req'd. - VANTEL
well monty is locked up for a few more years on a not so nice contract given his level of play. His exact contract could probably get a 4D. He plays like a 4D in maybe 10% of his games. He is 10% 4D, 10% 7D, and 40% each of 5 and 6 D. I wouldn't mind losing his contract. |

He is reliable and will give you toughness .Hey Chi fans know SOB His defense has improved but still makes a lot of mistakes. The big thing he is not the 1 or 2 guy he fits very nice at 5/6. - VANTEL
He has matured some and is more solid on defense than others mentioned...plus he is a big boy that can play on the penalty kill and that is a big +. |

I would love to have SOB though. My friend and I nicknamed him "Game Misconduct" |

If Bickell AND Frolik are scratches tonight, doesn't that likely mean Scott is playing at forward tonight? - hawks2010
Maybe Hayes |

Based on what? Superior skating? Better vision? Playmaking ability? Toughness? - ksilvy58
All of the above except toughness. I also find it hard to believe that any of the top 4 D-men at RFD could be any worse than Scott. It's just not possible for any of them to be that bad. As bad, maybe. Worse, I highly doubt it. |

The Hawks already have a very big, mean D-man. His name is John Scott. He plays just as well as Sutton and Erskine. Yes, he's not the best with the puck, but he makes up for it in other areas like clearing the net and intimidating his opponents. It just seems like he has that "enforcer" tag that influence the coach's decision making process. Dress him with a mobile D-man and he'll do just fine on the back end...
I would love to have him on the Kings. - RedwingsAreKHL

Haviland. Just because Stanbow put Scott on the roster doesn't mean Q has to play him. See Lepisto, S.
He may not have lost the team, but he's clearly lost his mind. - Ogilthorpe2
Love Haviland. I'd really like to see him get a shot. |

Lepisto any day of the week. - Ogilthorpe2
I'd like to see Lepisto get some minutes without fear of making a mistake and sitting for weeks.
I know he's not great, but he's certainly serviceable. But he's probably playing for fear of getting minutes if he screws up. |

Speculation at this point .SOB is a healthy scratch and Chi have Bickell and others scratched . He is a good playoff Dguy. I like SOB he is all heart . - VANTEL
Would love to pry Stastny too, but obviously the pot would have to be sweetened. Not sure what the Av needs. |

It is the best way to describe any trade update. You guys know that everyone is dying for something....so throwing out a little meat....well....gets the sharks swimming... |

Avs would move Stastny tomorrow, that way they could resign all their RFA. Problem is they have to stay above the cap floor so they would have to take a contract back. This makes them a perfect trade partner of the Hawks. We send them Sharp and his 5 more years of 6 mill plus. We get a first line centre to play with Hossa. He has two years left at 6mill plus, by then one of our centre prospects should be ready. Stastny's value to the Hawks as a second line centre is far more important than Sharp as a second line winger. Hossa is the premier right winger in the league and he has gone far too long without a premier centre. He's not getting any younger. This trade works for us short and long term, the cap relief by losing over 6 mill a year in two years would be huge when we are looking to resign Leddy, Staulberg and others. |

I see...
Many times trade speculation is confused with reporting a rumor. |
