Whats funny about the Nabokov thing is I recall when it happened last year how mad some of the Isles fans were and what a waste it was. I remember saying at the time that no quality asset being added to a roster is ever a bad thing. Wasn't even a risky venture, just a signing of a legit NHL goaltender. If it gets flipped, I think some of you owe Snow an apology...

Nabby first off ice, so most likely starting, rolston sits again, thank you cappy for using your brain. Must win both games for isles, huge four points. Especially tomorrow night. Let's go isles! |

You to. And since I'm a closet (guess it out of the closet now) Sens fan. Not at the Isles expense though. I hope the game goes to over time or a shoot out. (how I hate SO's ) Just so the Sens can manage a point and get back on track. How I wish Haley or Gillies were up for this one.
I wonder if "Z" or Neil will ask Martin to dance tonight? |

Sounded like the discussion was PAP for a top 4 type of D. Not a selling or buying move, more of just a hockey move. Trade from strength and strengthen a weakness. |

All I remember is how many Redwings fans came to our board crying for days. Like he was not just going to be picked up by someone else anyway. |

At first, I was adamantly against moving PAP. Now, I'm warming up to it. IF and only IF he yields the Isles a solid D-man (top four minimum, no less) or a top defensive prospect (no Wisharts, only guys who are can't miss to be top four d-men) then I'll be happy to move PAP. A guy on pace to score 70 points should bring something like that back. If they can't get that, then ride out the season with PAP and try to re-sign him, if the numbers aren't absurd. |

i guess thats just your unadulterated opinion against my unadulterated opinion.... we'll see. my thinking is that PAPs value is as high as itll ever be. i just dont see this kind of play continuing for the long term. once defenses start realizing they have to pay attention to the guy, hell plummet....just my opinion....but before you jump on me for saying that (and im not saying by any stretch of the imagination that its the same situation) if the islanders traded grabner during the offseason, the return would have been SIGNIFICANTLY higher than it would be if they traded him now.
point is, garth has to be 3 steps ahead, if he agrees with me that pap wont get better, find a GM who think he will get better. if garth agrees with you, than keep him and hope that production comes with time. |

tied for dead last in the conference, 11 pts back, 18 or 19 road games left, 25 of 33 remaining games are against teams currently sitting in a playoff spot.
sorry to burst your bubble, but the chances that the isles make the postseason are roughly the same as the chances of peyton suiting up this weekend instead of Eli.
I like the isles, fun team to watch, but if they try to buy at the deadline, garth should get his a$$ fired. |

shouldnt this be a reason why the islanders MIGHT (granted i agree, i dont think they will make the POs) be able to squeeze into the playoffs? |

I'd love to give one... I just make mental notes of things I read and hear and pass them along. I usually don't remember things from sources I don't know or don't respect so... take it for what its worth. probably nothing.

i'd actually think it's a reason to assume that they're probably gonna lose more games than they'll win down the stretch.
don't get me wrong, i'd like to see the isles in the playoffs. i'm just pointing out the fact that, when your chances of getting in is probably a % that you can count with one hand, probably not a good idea to be buyer at the deadline |

again, i agree with you, i dont think itll happen, but if they go on a 2nd half tear and play .700 hockey, then they would want to play the teams in front of jump up the standings quickly |
