At first, I was adamantly against moving PAP. Now, I'm warming up to it. IF and only IF he yields the Isles a solid D-man (top four minimum, no less) or a top defensive prospect (no Wisharts, only guys who are can't miss to be top four d-men) then I'll be happy to move PAP. A guy on pace to score 70 points should bring something like that back. If they can't get that, then ride out the season with PAP and try to re-sign him, if the numbers aren't absurd. - Jethro09
I honestly don't think pa is going anywhere. He's just been too productive since joining the isles. I can see them moving nielsen before him. And goalie wise I can see them moving montoya before Nabby. Just my opinion. |

I think the question about him is that while he is at a bargain now, but when he becomes a FA, and putting up the numbers he has, history shows us that a team will be willing to spend more money than he is worth, is he still worth it to keep. Meaning, if you as an organzation feel that a team is willing to offer him 4 @ 4.0, would you still not see him being moved? |

He has really come into his own here. Why leave now?
Take the money and enjoy the ride!!!
Nielsen... I can understand. The Isles should have extended him last year.
Both guys I would love to have back on this team next year.
I really can't see alot of movement this trade deadline.
Isles need to make a serious run @ one of the two Nashville defenceman, and Parise in the off season.
Do whatever it takes!!! |

tied for dead last in the conference, 11 pts back, 18 or 19 road games left, 25 of 33 remaining games are against teams currently sitting in a playoff spot.
sorry to burst your bubble, but the chances that the isles make the postseason are roughly the same as the chances of peyton suiting up this weekend instead of Eli.
I like the isles, fun team to watch, but if they try to buy at the deadline, garth should get his a$$ fired. - sensarmy_11
I am just saying what GArth was saying during the interview. We are buyers not sellers. Made me laugh as well but hey we are the Islanders after all |

If they can get a decent, young D-man... Pa is gone. I think PA's play has made him more valuable than other guys Snow was willing to move (anyone not named Tavares, Moulson, or big time prospect). If Snow can get a top 4 d-man he will move just about anyone else ...especially if they are not signed long term. |

i guess thats just your unadulterated opinion against my unadulterated opinion.... we'll see. my thinking is that PAPs value is as high as itll ever be. i just dont see this kind of play continuing for the long term. once defenses start realizing they have to pay attention to the guy, hell plummet....just my opinion....but before you jump on me for saying that (and im not saying by any stretch of the imagination that its the same situation) if the islanders traded grabner during the offseason, the return would have been SIGNIFICANTLY higher than it would be if they traded him now.
point is, garth has to be 3 steps ahead, if he agrees with me that pap wont get better, find a GM who think he will get better. if garth agrees with you, than keep him and hope that production comes with time. - LetsGoIsles
No I totally understand trading PAP now. I just for some reason dont see it happening unless he brings back guy who can score at this point. He is the only secondary scoring we have at the moment outside of the first line. For me Garth needs to make a package deal and get someone of importance back. This weekend will determine where we stand at the trade deadline. Contenders or Pretenders |

Who will be moving a top 4 defenceman @ the trade deadline?
Teams trade off their FA for draft picks... they get what they can. |

Nabby first off ice, so most likely starting, rolston sits again, thank you cappy for using your brain. Must win both games for isles, huge four points. Especially tomorrow night. Let's go isles! - nyi18
I don't think rolstons scratching is cappys decision....I think it's snow.

Snow would not do that to his best friend. Cappy dont have the kahoonies to do it either and Wang has no clue. Maybe it is the hockey gods benching him. |

That just doesn't make sense......
Nabokov comes CHEAP and has been in the playoffs before. Contending teams are gonna want that. Montoya makes more sense long term for the isles.
As for Fransy, he's not meant to be a second line center. He's a defensive forward. He's being misused... |

Capuano I'm sure knows rolstons dead weight......but snow job brought him in and they felt obligated to play him. My guess is, if cappy had his way.....the fourth line woulda been ulstrom, Haley, and Rhakshani at the beginning of the season. |

I just think with the way this team has grown with Nabby in net, and the way Nabby has become a locker room voice(we hear) that he's more likely to stay. Granted he probably will be moved before the deadline if we don't win enough games to close the gap a little. And with pa, I just think he has grown so much here, and with these guys, that he could ask for 3-3.5 for two seasons, and I wouldn't mind paying that. Again just my opinion |

I know teams want the experience and totally agree that he is way easier to move cuz of that. I think with Nabby it will come down to how far we are out of the po, and weather he would really want to play here for another season. All speculation, but I agree that i see him beong moved over al. I personally would love to keep nabs. |

Only problem is 29 other teams are going to run for the 2 D men and Parise as well. As much as the Isles are improving and have kids like Tavares to use as bargaining chips when talking to FA's they still have many problems. We have Wang running the show, no real home, and no proven coaching staff. Those 3 things alone will keep those guys away. Parise has already said he wants to compete for the cup, not compete for 8th in the conference.
We have to think more realistic in the offseason and pick up more realiable pieces this offseason like Florida did. The one thing going for the Isles is they will have A LOT of money that they HAVE to spend this offseason, plus all of the inbetween cap money but, Wang has mentiond he's not spending that until the future of the team is settled.
