Well unfortunately, it's not the 70's anymore. And the game just isn't that way anymore. The players no longer police each other.

An example of what I'm talking about. If a finesse soft as tissue paper player like Gaborik would fight back against an enforcer like Carcillo, you can damn well guarantee Volchenkov would answer if challenged.

Does he have the NHL's interest in mind, which is to have good called games, or does he have the interest of the officials? From a fan's perspective, some of these guys are absolutely brutal. If I sucked that badly at my job, I'd be fired. Add to that there's 2 on the ice...

As we have seen all year, concussion symptoms can take a while to develop. It would be a minor miracle if he isn't concussed by that punch.

It had it's normal inconsistency. Such as they called Sestito for a rough for a punch in the face on a goal mouth scrum. And then later in the game, Jagr got hit in the face, and they didn't call it. That's what bothers me. Call it both ways. And how they could not call the obvious trip of Giroux leading to a shorthanded goal, is beyond any sort of a reasonable explanation. That was criminal.
