I think a fine would be appropriate. And I think that would likely be the recourse, but based on the perceived Rinaldo reputation, it may be a suspension. - PLindbergh31
Has he been suspended before?
If so, then a suspension is pretty much guaranteed.

That was a douchebag move, I don't condone that at all. I don't know if it was incidental or not, but that is not as bad as Rinaldo's which was purely done on purpose. - _Zippy_
I wouldn't be surprised to see Rinaldo get a meeting with Shanny for that play.
oh no doubt. hopefully they can build off the strong 3rd and take it to the rags. - flyfan1212
Laviolette was asked post-game, and he said there was nothing to feel good about. He said at the end of the day they didn't get points, and that's the bottom line. I don't agree 100%, but I admire his honesty.
What does it matter if it was prior to the lockout or not?
I agree about the slewfoot. It doesn't have any place in hockey.

1. You really had to dig deep in the archives to find an example. None of the Devils in that video are still in NJ
2. Are you really comparing Gionta jockeying for position to get a game winning goal to Rinaldo slew footing a player after a whistle? I'm sure Gionta, who as we all know is a dirty player, wasn't focused on the win and just wanted to hurt someone.
That's got to be the hope. The comeback, although it fell short, is encouraging. - Jsaquella
I have a bad feeling that punch Schenn took is going to end up being a concussion, I admire Schenn's courage there, and although Kovalchuk isn't a fighter per say, he's giving away too much size and strength fighting Kovalchuk. Would be a shame if he has to miss games now, he's really settled in and has performed well.

I googled Devils hockey slewfoot. first video. Took all of 8 seconds.
Again, arguing level of douchebaggery is pretty weak. Congrats.

Well the crack local media didn't mention anything...
I didn't look encouraging. Feel bad for that kid, he's had some bad luck this year....although today was just his own stupidity

As we have seen far too often, these concussions have a habit of rearing their ugly head a few days later. Yeah wasn't the smartest thing in the world for him to challenge Kovalchuk.

Well, hopefully he's OK and not afflicted again. I've heard the C-word too often this year
