i disagree, the noncall on zubrus that led ti IK's shory had huge impact - KINGKENZO
Well Giroux missed a wide open empty net that would have tied the game at 1. Had he scored that play doesn't even happen.
Not to mention that bad call only made the game 2-0, does 2-0 have to become 6-0? |

Dating back to the last 20 home games of last year, the Flyers home record is 17-18-9. 27 losses in 44 home games. This is a sample size of a full home schedule.
Someone has to figure out why this team can't win at home. They literally have zero home ice advantage. Makes no sense to me. - PLindbergh31
I wonder what the first goals look like in those games, including when scored.
Does the lack of crowd noise (at least on television) stem from the play on the ice or is it demographics? |

Completely missed the game. Had to rely on ESPNs app, so I have a few questions I'd like input on....
Were the penalties called on both teams legit?
Was the defense bad, or was Bob leaky? Or both?
What's the take on the Schenn fight? I hear rumblings of "bullying"...what's the deal with that? Do we think it gave the boys a spark at all?
The Flyers in the 3rd- were they that good (forchecking, good decisions, puck control, etc)? Or were the Devils just folding and quitting since they were murdering us?
Some feedback would be nice. Thanks.
Also- I can't help but notice Bryz pitched a shutout in relief. I know it was INCREDIBLY small sample size... (What? like 10 shots?) but his play of late has been stellar, and it's even harder to be good cold turkey off the bench.
I hope it's a sign of things to come
Moreover- it's good to see the fight in this team. Yeah the got spanked- but they came out in the 3rd and buried 4. I like that kind of never die attitude. Man I'm really in love with the group we have this year. - Giroux_Is_God
I watched a replay of the game. I think the refs sucked. Very inconsistent game that fed the fire and led to the questionable stuff.
Bob made a lot of good stops, but I don't think he looked great on a couple/few of the goals...nothing really awful, but I think he could have made stops. The defense and intensity were missing badly for the Flyers early.
Schenn bit off more than he could chew. Nuff said.
The third looked to be a combination of the Devils sitting back, but the Flyers were also attacking like madmen.
Bryzgalov didn;t have to do much in the third, but he was tested a few times in the 2nd. |

I have no earthly idea why. And apparently the coaches don't either. |

Volchenkov has been a thorn in the side of the Flyers since that brutal and cheap hit on Gagne almost 2 years ago. There is no question he won't fight but the team can do a better job of making him a marked man. He can dish it out but he better be ready to take it. - Schenn2shine
You level Parise and make sure that Volchenkov knows that was for him. |

but he did miss which led to the play at the blue line. If called, Zubrus is box, flyers go on 5-3 PP (inconsequential if they convert), Kovalchuk doesnt beat bob with a stoppable shot. With Zubrus in the box, he can't score on the rebound. Since the Devils arent up 3-zip, Harnell doesnt take a penalty going into the 2nd. With out that PP, Parise doesnt waltz in from the corner.
Granted, other things may have unfolded to put the Devs up 6-0( debate fate vs impact of free will here) but not that way. Game is completely different with a call on Zubrus |

Fair points. I still think the team could have responded down 2-0, instead of melting down. |

I'm not going to criticize Giroux. He hasn't played as well lately, but he was so good for about 40 games. He's second in the NHL in scoring and he missed four games. Not sure anyone can expect any more out of him. |

Nah, I know you weren't bashing Giroux. To me, he gets the benefit of the doubt based on his tremendous play this season. |

Just wondering. Has everyone done the pros and cons of a JvR for Luke Schenn trade by comparing the two young players? JvR is taller, Schenn is tougher, JvR is more skilled, Schenn is more healthy.
There is no question that I would love Luke on this team but without question JvR is the better player in the deal and JvR would need to be replaced in some shape of form. Even if Kadri was added to the deal and Burke felt that would be too much for JvR, I would offer a 3rd rounder at the most. Burke can make the argument that Schenn and Kadri are their future but we can argue that these are exactly building block players even though both are still young and both were drafted high within their classes. Still, Schenn is a defensive defenseman that's probably ever going to post 30 point seasons at his best and Kadri is only a one dimensional player.
I was also thinking that Kadri could be flipped at anytime because he is a young player with offensive upside.
Am I off base on this?

Are you serious? That might be what the trip from Parise was for. Rinaldo has seriously won me over. He's been like Carcillo but both calm and collected. |

I agree with it. But Homer is in the drivers seat and can sit back while Burke looses his (frank)ing mind over a trade. Poney up the players we want or (frank) off
also Kadri could turn out to be quite a player as well. |

Kadri can afford to be himself as a Flyer. We have plenty of players who have a fantastic two way game here (Even though we want him to be responsibly in his own zone). His size might work against him but like I said, he has some value. It's just that his value shouldn't be through the roof at the moment because he still has a lot to learn. Look at Kyle Turris. In my opinion Turris is way behind his development and Ottawa was still willing to take a chance on him. |

There is no doubt that non call had an effect on the game. I won't say it was the reason why they lost. But getting a call there that should have been made could of very well turned the entire game around, and created a much different circumstance.

lol irrelevant at this point.. its not like he would call on it to block a trade from columbus
but i guess it could make him more dealable if the team he goes to knows it wont be locked in for 20 years |
